𝐓𝐄𝐍 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐋𝐄𝐒 Set in a world enshrouded by darkness - where danger lurks in the form of the ambiguous horrors that stalk, terrorize, and devour your protagonists from the shadows - you and your companions are tasked with seeing through the last living hours of your characters whose hope will flourish and then be snuffed out as surely as the final candle will fade when the game ends. Will your character leave their mark on the world? Or will they give into their fear and succumb to their darkest natures? You will decide. 𝐌𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐋𝐄: 𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐎𝐅 𝐀𝐍 𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐄 It began as a quaking beneath the earth: a rumbling of the presence that dwelled beneath the Golden City, the jealous shadow cast by the light of its prosperity. Doomsayers proclaimed the End of Times nigh at hand, but you and your companions were wont to give credence to their words. Now the sky has grown dark above. Three days hence, the sheltering mountain of the Gods, in whose shadow your ancestors erected this empire, began to spew forth dark smog, drowning out the sun's light. The bay has since receded from the shore, leaving fish stranded in an empty harbor. Perhaps the Doomsayers spoke truth after all: something is coming, and your skepticism has served well to leave you at the very heart of it. 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 - Create your own soon-to-be deceased, imbue them with virtues and vices to help them navigate what awaits them, and ultimately narrate how their story will end. - Weave an rp-heavy narrative from a shared directors seat: control the world around you with nearly limitless rein - Theme music and ambiance - A live feed of the Ten Candles burning

How to prepare

You will need a mic, but do not need a webcam if you do not wish to use one / do not have one. The only things you should bring to the game are four index cards / post it notes / slips of paper and a writing utensil.

What I provide

A foundry screen to provide ambiance and visuals. A live feed of the Ten Candles burning. A dice app installed in the server specifically for in-game use (although you may also bring your own physical dice if you wish!) Access to the source content through a pinned post, if you wish to read more / reference it.

Gameplay details

Ten Candles is a brutally honest game about traumatic situations and the lengths to which characters will go to survive when pushed to desperation. As established in the description, every game ends with the death of all characters involved - this is absolute. As DM, it is my job to mediate the goings on should they stray too far from the intended goal of the game: to live this time in as meaningful a way as possible. While all attempts will be made to handle these topics with care, you can expect to deal with some heavy emotions in a standard game and we want to ensure you are aptly forewarned of this before proceeding. As additional safety measures - should a topic reach a triggering point, you are encouraged to pause the game and we can discuss how best to handle, move on from, or skip the content at hand. Each game will end with an open space for bleed and aftercare, and of course our DMs will be open throughout if you need anything in regards to your safety or well-being.
