About the adventure

"The town of Sandpoint needs you! You'll work your way up from humble beginnings, helping out the locals deal with their goblin problems in the unassuming seaside town of Sandpoint, to eventually uncover a greater mystery that may threaten not just Sandpoint, but the entire countryside of Varisia . . ." A brand new campaign set in the not-so-new world of Golarion! Have you ever wanted to explore the wonderful world of Pathfinder, but prefer the streamlined rules of 5E? Or, are you a Pathfinder veteran, but looking to try something new? Are you just looking to start on your next adventure? Whatever the case, this campaign will be a long-term run-through of the original Paizo adventure path converted to the 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons ruleset which we will use throughout the campaign. The game will begin at 1st-level, but by the end of the adventure path your characters will have traveled all the way to the end of the 3rd tier of play (levels 11-16).

How to prepare

Having an initial understanding of the 5th Edition rules is useful, but not strictly required. You will need a microphone and Discord account for communication, and you will also need to create a free Forge account which can be created @ (you can alternatively link a pre-existing Patreon account) NOTE: You do not need to download any software for this game. All applications are either used exclusively in a browser or have a browser version available.

What I provide

I will create a Discord server for communications and link a Foundry game to use during sessions for character sheets, dice rolls, location/battle maps, handouts, music, and other effects.

Gameplay details

The mood of the adventure path tends towards dark fantasy. Elements of fantasy horror abound, though not without moments of—sometimes dark—humor. The general rating of the campaign may range from PG-13 to Mature for elements of fantasy violence, gore, tragedy, trauma, and sexuality. A recurring motif of the adventure is the seven deadly sins, so themes of carnal vice are intentionally baked into the core storyline. With this in mind, I want to portray these elements with grace and maturity, and so I expect prospective players to do so as well. To help ensure a safe exploration into these topics, during play we will employ an X-card to rewind or pause at junctures of uncomfortable content. If you pull the X-card and don't want to discuss why with the whole group present, then I can get in contact with you privately on how best to roll things back to your comfort level. As the adventure path is very expansive, the content of a general session will range from social interaction to combat to investigation, and the ratios will change more gradually throughout each chapter. Character roleplaying will be a focus (this does not mean you need to put on a voice, although know that I will tend to speak in-character when portraying NPCs). Just remember, whether during combat or in social interactions, the golden rule of "What would my character do?" Homebrew mechanics and house rules will be posted in their own channel in the Discord server and discussed during session 0 to ensure everyone is on the same page.

How will character creation work

We will create characters as a group through chat in the lead-up to and/or during Session 0 (Note: Session 0 will be free) . We'll tie everyone's background into the starting town of Sandpoint and establish any pre-existing bonds between characters. This is not to say that your character started out in Sandpoint, but they're at least here for a specific reason. All official Wizards of the Coast material will be accepted, including the race and class variants from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, and any other homebrew may be allowed following prior approval by myself.
