About the adventure

Journey into the mystical desert land of Akkal in this magical homebrew campaign inspired by my novel Exile Into Sand. Explore ancient ruins, search for strange magical artifacts, and learn about the cultures within Akkal! This is a casual, homebrew game using the original (2014) D&D 5e rules. Everyone is welcome, whether you're a veteran player or brand new to D&D!

About me

I'm a Writer, Actor, and Game Master who loves giving my players a fantastic and fun experience with every session! I love curating roleplaying games to what the group wants! When I'm not working or running games, I'm hanging out with my 3 cats; Haru, Amos, and Cassian! :)

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation can be done during Session 0 or Session 1; all characters will start at Level 1 with standard starting equipment, manual/rolled stats, no restrictions on race/background/class/etc.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All you'll need is a webcam with audio capabilities, and a computer or tablet for referencing character sheet on D&D Beyond. You'll need to make a free account on there, but I can content share in the campaign so you can access the materials I pay for. I can assist with character creation and explaining rules, I love playing with experienced players just as much as I love teaching new players and introducing them to the fun of D&D!

What Josh Lindquist brings to the table

All scheduling is done in Mountain Time Zone (MTN where I am located). My primary tools are D&D Beyond, Discord, and Zoom. I use Inkarnate for regional/area maps. I prefer theater of the mind for smaller maps, but I have some experience with Roll20 and other similar VTTs and am happy to learn those if requested by the group. Beyond ensuring consistency, I am open to the player's wishes for Rule of Cool and rules interpretations. I also love improv and letting characters steer the campaign however they would like.

Safety

How Josh Lindquist creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort is a top priority here. Content Warnings mentioned above can be removed if a player wishes, no worries at all. A free session 0 for all players to go over their boundaries and needs is guaranteed. Every player will fill out the Monte Cook player consent and content PDF. Using Zoom to play, players can raise hands to prompt a break and use zoom chat or discord message to raise concerns. And every session will end with Stars & Wishes to go over what worked and what did not for the group. Any additional safety or other accommodations available upon request :)
