About the adventure

Inspired by Hellgate: London and the Diablo series!! It's the near future and Earth has, literally, gone to hell. Over the last year, portals to somewhere else have opened all over the world, and the creatures, whom most people are calling demons, are pouring out everywhere. Conventional weapons don't work and humanity scavenges to survive in the wreckage of great cities. ⚔Survive and fight back in a city controlled by invaders! 🔥Avoid or defeat bands of very dangerous, highly organized demons, cultists, and mutated animals. 💥Delve into ancient history to find artifacts, rediscover magic, and other tools to help you survive. 🏰Rally survivors, create refuges and fortresses to resist the enemy! ⚔It's time to fight back and drive the invaders out of NYC! For the Living! The Cypher system is a very easy to learn, fast playing, highly customizable system that puts role-playing front and centre, while still having crunch in the character system. This is a game for folks who want to tell a character driven story, getting into the role of a character who will have defeats and triumphs and story arcs, growing and changing as the campaign goes on and we tell a story together. Come try a new system that has depth, but gets out of its own way during game play!

About me

Hey folks! I'm Pete, known online as StenBjorn! I run Stone Bear Crafting and Games, a business dedicated to painting miniatures, 3d printing, building terrain, writing adventures, and helping customers have an awesome gaming experience! I've been playing D&D since family introduced me to the game in the late 80s. I have played and Game Mastered through a multitude of editions, learned other game systems, and never stopped loving storytelling through games - and hanging out with cool people! It's very important to me that everyone is welcome at my table. I'm happy to teach and believe learning is constant, and that when we're sitting at the table, we're all working together as a team. In that spirit, I don't tolerate bigotry of any sort. I want my games to be a safe space for group fun and growth and amazing storytelling! No generative AI is used in any of my games or productions.

Character creation

Creating your character

All Cypher character options are on the table, we may just have to re-skin for the setting if necessary! We'll be using a single descriptor. Backstory creation is done cooperatively with a custom backstory system made to integrate your character into the world and story!

The current party

Things are heating up as the party learns to kill demon lords, and the demon lords start closing in on their base! We would love another to round out the party as we head toward engame! This campaign is intended to run about a year(50-70 sessions total). No experience necessary, I'm happy to teach! Cypher is fast and fun. Mid-campaign sign-ups still get full onboarding and session 0, as well as caught up on what's happened so far, so if you sign up same day, we will likely get you in to the campaign in time for the next session!

Safety

How Pete - StenBjorn creates a safe table

My games put story first, and I encourage role playing and creative thinking! Big swings are fun! I will provide combat, exploration, puzzles, and plenty of role playing opportunities! These games don’t work if we don’t think like a team, and work best when we’re all working together. I expect players at my table to respect each other, the story, and me. We will be working together to explore characters and tell a story. Optimization of your character is fine, but if math is the main attraction of the game for you, my table may not be what you’re looking for. I treat RPGs not as games to be won, but experiences to be built. I enjoy challenging combats and will throw them your way, but they have to serve the story. I ask all my players to be good to each other! Be cool, and we shall have a great time together. I don’t strictly follow Rules As Written, but I don’t deviate from RAW for no reason. That being said, I definitely believe in the rule of cool, as long as it doesn’t bend reality, and I use a few house rules for fun, flavor, and ease of use. These will be talked about in session 0. My games are for a mature audience, and I swear like a pirate when it’s appropriate(in character). I welcome anyone to chat about expectations, but I do aim for an adult game, and as these games are fantasy/sci-fi, there will be conflict and violence and raised voices. I use the X(red), N(yellow), and O(green) card system during game play. This functions through the ping button on Role as well as private messaging on Discord. No explanation is needed when these are used. Before we start I will also be asking everyone to fill out the Digital RPG Consent Checklist by Kienna Shaw and Lauren Bryant-Monk(Adapted from Monte Cook Games), and this will be the basis for a living lines and veils document. I have a zero tolerance policy for harassment or discrimination of any sort, including race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, etc. I(the GM) reserve the right to remove a player immediately if they are in violation of this rule.
