About the adventure
✳ Adventure with the seaside town of Otari ✳ Uncover what lurks beneath this seaside town ✳ Learn Pathfinder 2E and play-by-post games with the Beginner Box ✳ Play on your own time, anywhere! Welcome to 'Menace Under Otari,' a beginner-friendly campaign set in the seaside town of Otari. This mini-campaign will take players from levels 1 to 3, and likely will be followed by 'Trouble in Otari.' Players have the freedom to create their own character or choose from pre-generated ones, all of whom will be residents of Otari. This is a play-by-post campaign, done completely by text on Discord. It is perfect for busy players or those who can't access a virtual tabletop. The game is designed to be played asynchronously, meaning that players will have the flexibility to participate at their own pace and schedule throughout the week. The game will be played via Discord and Dice Roller bots, and characters will be created using Pathbuilder. Exploration will be handled using screenshots from Roll20. Maps will be handled by Avrae, and we will teach you how to use them. You will have the option of keeping a copy of your sheets in Roll20, allowing you to learn the Roll20 interface. Enigma is determining how to make play-by-post Pathfinder games work. There's going to be a lot of trial and error, and we will be teaching you along the way. We are learning together, as a team. We plan to offer games like this with various systems, as we learn by doing. We ask that you are patient and willing to learn with us. We will use what we learn to teach other SPG DMs. ✳ Discord: https://discord.gg/8RtNxxG4G6

What I provide
As the GM, I provide the following: ✳ One-on-one help to tie your character's backstory into the world and story. ✳ A Discord server, with threads for splitting the party or side RP. ✳ A dice roller bot for easy roll resolution. ✳ Visuals for exploration hosted via Roll20. ✳ A map bot for visual representation of the game world during combat. It's made for D&D 5E, but I can use it for PF2E. I will teach you how to use it. ✳ Over 20 years of experience running text-based RPGs. ✳ A willingness to teach even as I'm learning the ins and outs of Pathfinder 2E. ✳ Pregenerated characters options for you to choose from. Dreams will also be helping as well as playing. Dreams is experienced with play by post and D&D 5E, and they will be helping me to develop a system that will work for players and DMs, to run this system via text!
🏳️🌈♾️👨🏾🦲 This is a safe table for people of all types. Dreams is trans and queer, Enigma is LGBTQIA+, and we are both neurodivergent. We hope to make a place where all can feel accepted, regardless of race, gender, beliefs. 👨🏾🦲♾️🏳️🌈 This campaign is a play-by-post format, which means that it's heavy on roleplay but also includes challenging combat and exploration. As a play-by-post (PBP) campaign, it's asynchronous and played only via text, with no voice or sessions. The game is played throughout the week and billed on a subscription basis. The speed of the campaign goes with the pace of the group, and I will post daily (except on weekends when I take a break). Players will get to experience the story and system while playing via text, and I and Dreams are always here to help. It's worth noting that I am still learning this system and learning how to run it via play-by-post. This is my first experience running a PF2E play-by-post campaign, so I'll be developing the methods myself using the resources I have. But I am open to learning and trying new ways to make the game more engaging. In a way this is a collaboration between us, to help all of us learn Pathfinder 2E PBP. Safety tools will always be in effect; this game is a safe and inclusive place. We will use safety cards, Monte-Cooke consent form, lines and veils, and any other safety tools the group needs. Both Enigma and Dreams are neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+, and seek to provide a safe table for all players. Accessibility is a big part of the game, and accommodations will be made to meet your needs so that you can have fun. The following will NOT be featured in our games: ✳ Sexual Assault/Non-Consensual Sex ✳ Exploitation of Minors ✳ Explicit mature content [will always fade to black] ✳ Real life imagery of sabotage/destruction [GIFs, Photos, and Videos] ✳ Player-on-Player gaslighting, bullying, or negativity ✳ Player-on-Player TRASH [transphobia, racism, ableism, sexism, homophobia] behavior
Safety tools used
- Lines and Veils
- Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist
- Session 0
- X, N, and O Cards
How will character creation work
Character creation for this campaign will take place using the Pathbuilder app. All characters will start at Level 1 and must have some connection to the town of Otari, whether they're from there or have been living there for a while. ✳ Free Archetype ✳ Ancestry Paragon Rules We will allow Ponyfinder and Battlezoo Ancestries to be used in character creation to give more unique and diverse options for players. Any other third-party, ask please! For those who are new to the character creation process, I also have pre-generated characters available, including the ones supplied with the Beginner Box. Players can also work with me using Pathbuilder to create a character that fits their desired playstyle. ✳ Pathbuilder: https://pathbuilder2e.com/
