About the adventure

Something is wrong in the small, quiet fishing town of Otari - some creature is stealing all of the Otari Fishery's fish! When a group of local adventurers set out to investigate, though, they discover that there's far more to the story than first meets the eye. They'll have to investigate underground caverns with all sorts of strange and wonderful ruins, creatures, and people inside to find out what's at the bottom of this mystery, and what sinister plans that force has against the quiet town above! "Menace Under Otari" is a classic dungeon exploration adventure from the Pathfinder Beginner Box, which is one of the best introductory products to a TTRPG I've ever seen. If you've ever wondered about how to play Pathfinder 2e, this is a phenomenal chance to learn the mechanics while still getting to play a classically styled adventure with lots of fun discoveries along the way. I really love teaching games to players who are new to them (or to TTRPGs, period!) so I'm always having a ball when I run this adventure. Whether it's your first time playing Pathfinder, your first time rolling dice, or you simply want to play through this adventure with a fun group of people, I'm excited to have you at the table. There will be lots of exciting combat, intriguing puzzles, and strange creatures to interact with as you venture under Otari. Please note that the full adventure of "Menace Under Otari" takes most groups 2 sessions to complete.

Additional Details

How to prepare

You should have a working microphone, and a working webcam is nice so that we can all see each other. There is no need to read the rules or create characters ahead of time (though if you have a strong, specific image of an adventurer in mind, you can feel free to ask me about creating it to bring to the table). You should create a Roll20 account (which is free) if you don't already have one, so that you're ready to play on the day of the game. Dice, character sheets, etc. are handled through Roll20.

What I provide

I'll be bringing a complete Roll20 suite for the game, including pregenerated characters, detailed maps, and deep familiarity with the story and NPCs of the adventure!

Gameplay details

For Lines & Veils, a link will be sent to players ahead of time with a form to fill out listing their lines and veils. X, N, and O cards will be done through chat (public or private, as a player prefers) and honored with no questions asked. They can optionally be held up on video for players who are comfortable having their camera on (encouraged but not required). Stars and Wishes will be done through discussion at the end of a session.

How will character creation work

Characters begin at level 1. Because this is a "learn to play" game, pregen characters are available (both those that come with the Pathfinder Beginner Box and some of my own creation). If a player would like to play a character type that doesn't fit one of the pregens, I can help that player create one/create it to their specifications ahead of time.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: High
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Beginner
