About the adventure

Explore the vast Forest of Davokar in the hunt for treasures, lost wisdoms and fame. Visit the eleven barbarian clans to trade or to plunder their treasuries. Establish a base of power among princes, guilds or rebellious refugees in the capital city of Yndaros. Or survive encounters with famished Arch Trolls, dark-minded Blight Beasts and undead warlords. But whatever you do, never ignore the warnings spoken by the wardens of the forest: tread carefully and do not disturb the ruins of old, for the dark deep of Davokar is about to awaken. Symbaroum is a fantasy tabletop RPG, often described as dark, gritty and deadly. It was first released in Swedish in 2014, then translated into English for a worldwide release in 2016. Since then, the game has captured the imagination of an ever-growing number of gamers and today the game-line encompasses a dozen hardcover books, along with several support products in the form of card sets, maps and more. The Symbaroum rule set is a D20, roll under, player-facing system, designed to be quick, punishing, and easy to get into. Also, it is highly flexible and modular, so those who want more complexity are offered numerous optional rules, or can easily introduce their own house rules. The game is also flexible when it comes to what type of games it facilitates – action and/or intrigue; one-shot scenarios and/or long adventure campaigns; serious stories and/or furious fun. However, one can argue that the flagship of Symbaroum is the acclaimed, six-part adventure chronicle The Throne of Thorns. Each of the standalone but interlinked episodes not only offer a massive adventure – they also introduce new lore, setting information, equipment, abilities, and optional rules. The intimate, richly nuanced Symbaroum setting revolves around the Ambrians – a civilization that two decades ago were forced to flee their ancestral soil after a devastating war. Their new and promised land borders on the vast forest of Davokar, covering the remnants of the Empire of Symbaroum which fell into ruin hundreds of years ago. Brimming with natural resources and mythical treasures, the forest calls out to the Ambrians to be explored and exploited, but the road into its depths lays far from open. Not only are the shadowy halls beneath the foliage fraught with danger, monsters and infectious corruption; there are also the elves of the Iron Pact who have vowed to die to keep anyone from disturbing the ruins of old, warning that the ancient evil of Symbaroum stirs in its sleep. The horrors of Davokar are about to awaken. Play-by-Post is a text-based method of experiencing tabletop games. It is far more suited to those with busy lives, unpredictable schedules, or who just like taking that extra bit of time to work out exactly what their character would do or say. It is slower than live, but still as fulfilling, fun, and can be more creative.

I use a number of assets and features to allow for a great PbP experience. I use Harpy VTT for a PbP-focused platform, Discord for admin and management, official art and appropriate scene artwork, playlists for immersion, and a professional yet down-to-earth style to make you feel welcome but give you the Premium experience.

Gameplay details

There will be a document, as well as lines & veils being addressed before the adventure begins. An X can be sent to the chat or to me directly and we'll know to skip, fade, or retcon to allow for maximum comfort for all players.

How will character creation work

Either pre-generated or over Discord in the days leading to the session. You will be starting with the starting array of stats, abilities, and equipment as outlined in the Starter Set pdf. Just have a concept of the kind of character you want and we can go from there.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
