Beginner Friendly - Essentials Kit: Dragon of Icespire Peak

About the adventure

A white dragon has been spotted in the mountains near the small mining town of Phandalin, and Townmaster Harbin Wester has sent out a call for heroes to protect the town from the dragon's predations. As adventurers, you will undertake several missions meant to ensure the safety of Phandalin and its inhabitants, all the while gathering the tools and experience necessary to take down the dragon, once and for all!

How to prepare

Players will need a microphone, Discord account, Forge-VTT account, and a reasonably stable internet connection. No cameras are needed, and no prior rules knowledge is necessary.

What I provide

This game is hosted on Forge-VTT, where you will have access to all the materials to build and maintain your characters, and each location has a custom-built map and hand-picked ambience, provided by Forgotten Adventures and Tabletop Audio! I do my best to provide a rich, connected world, with vibrant and memorable NPCs that will react in believable ways to your actions. The world itself will react in similar ways; as such, I mostly adhere to rules-as-written, except where the rules themselves stretch credulity. I also provide this campaign as an easy jumping-off point for any players wishing to begin their D&D adventures, so whether you are a long-term veteran of many campaigns, or you've never held a die with more than six sides before, you are more than welcome at my table.

Gameplay details

The first session will be a free Session Zero where we can discuss character creation, initial rules, as well as address any questions or concerns the players may have. I guarantee at least one break per session, with more possible as necessary.

How will character creation work

Characters will begin at Level 1, generated using a Standard Array. Feats are allowed, as well as all Forgotten Realms races. Any background that does not provide a feat is allowed. All official classes are allowed, but Death Domain Cleric, Necromancer Wizard, and Oathbreaker Paladin subclasses are not. The spell Silvery Barbs is banned. Characters will be built during Session Zero, though you are free to create concepts ahead of time, or bring a prebuilt character if you wish. Character sheets will be built and stored on FoundryVTT, though you are welcome to build you character in DnDBeyond and import it to Foundry.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
