About the adventure

You are a regent, a ruler of a kingdom in the Broken World. Once great nations were spread across the land, led by kings and queens, guildmasters and powerful mages; but all that is now lost. Across the continent, peoples come together and try to rebuild. They look to you to lead them out of these dark ages and return the world to its former glory. Are you a benevolent leader seeking to better the lives of your people? Or are you seeking power to rule over those you see as beneath you? Rule by might, money, magic, or majesty. Form alliances with other players, invade other kingdoms to steal their lands and riches, or just defend your borders hoping to be left alone.

How to prepare

Players wanting to roleplay should make sure they have a working webcam and mic, but those are not required. A working knowledge of the pathfinder system as well as birthright are helpful. Most information will be sent to players during the game. Because the game turns will be kept track of using and excel spreadsheet, access to Excel is a must. Some information will be sent using either Microsoft Word or as PDF.

What I provide

I will provide all the needed paperwork the players need.

Gameplay details

The Emperor's Crown will be run using an alternate version of the Birthright rules for just kingdom building. Each player will control their own domain, issuing commands and ruling their realm. Interaction between players will be mostly done through actions in game, although some roleplaying sessions will be used for diplomatic purposes. Players will receive a World update once a week, or sooner, that they will respond too with actions.

How will character creation work

Each player will need to create a Regent character to rule their kingdoms. This will be done using the Pathfinder 1e rules, with a few modifications. As GM, I will be using Hero Lab to help facilitate character creation and give all players a PDF (or other format if requested) copy of that character. 1. Select Race - Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Goblin and Orc will allowed for this version of the game. Race determines the terrain you gain advantage with. 2. Select Class - Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, Rogue, Monk, Paladin, and Ranger will be allowed starting classes. NO MULTI-CLASSING ALLOWED. Class determines the holdings you gain advantage with. 3. Select Alignment - All alignments all allowed. Alignment determines your kingdoms alignment choices. 4. Starting Stats - 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, and 8. These may be placed where the player wants, then adjusted by race. 5. Level - Regents will start at level 1. 6. Bloodlines - This is the biggest change to the Birthright setting for this game. I will not be using bloodlines. 7. Feats and Traits - Normal rules apply except all regents gain power attack and weapon finesse as bonus feats. 8. Equipment - Regents have 2,000 gp to purchase equipment. Because they are the rulers of their respective kingdoms, normal equipment less than 50 gp is assumed to be available to the regent at no cost. 9. Banned - All items or spells providing planar transport. Items or spells that grant wishes. 10. Regent Name - The most important piece of information about your regent is their name.
