About (Nick Fotopoulos) Dungeon Master Adamantine
I was thirteen years old when I first rolled dice, at a game of Dungeons & Dragons using the AD&D 3.0 edition ruleset, the last TSR published rulebooks. My Dungeon Master days started when I was fifteen. Big fan of CRPGs: Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Fallout, Neverwinter Nights, Temple of Elemental Evil, Pool of Radiance, Knights of the Old Republic, Gothic, Elder Scrolls, Solasta, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulhu and the list goes on, I love gaming! I have Game Master experience in a variety of systems, including (but not limited to) Dungeons & Dragons 3, 3.5, 4 and 5e, Call of Cthulhu, Star Wars RPG (Saga, Revised, FFG), Pathfinder 1 & 2, Starfinder, Conan 2d20 (Modiphius), Fallout 2d20 (Modiphius), Vampire the Masquerade, Mage the Ascension, Dragonbane, ALIEN, Modern d20 / Everyday Heroes. Experience as a player includes Dungeons & Dragons 2nd, OSR (Sword and Wizardry), Warhammer Fantasy (FFG & Cubicle 7), Warhammer 40k (FFG & Cubicle 7), Shadowrun, Dresden Files RPG, Legend of the Five Rings, FATE, Savage Worlds, Fantasy AGE (Ashes of Valkana) Collaborations with well-known hobby stores in Athens, Greece organizing and holding events such as Adventurer’s League, D&D Encounters, Pathfinder Society and more! Volunteer work at non-profit organizations that I shall not name due to uber toxic and truly unnecessary competition as well as free loader mentality.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Unforgiving, Knowledgeable, Storyteller. By that order.
I became a GM because
My friends where fighting each other about who is top boy DM. So I kept the role, but not the friends!
My favorite books are
TTRPG books of any kind. Novels bore me! I read comix if related to D&D, Star Wars, or anything with a fantasy\scifi vibe.
How (Nick Fotopoulos) Dungeon Master Adamantine runs games
“I like to run games in which the characters will be the heroes of the world while at the same time the consequences and effects of their actions will be obvious and will affect the development of the story. I follow the rules to the fullest, so that we are all on the same page and I have the same opinion about the Lore of established worlds. Of course, this does not mean that I do not appreciate the joy of improvisation and I often create my own pieces to fit the story and the players accordingly. It is very important for me to have harmony and good mood at the table. I take care from the beginning to clarify the expectations of all participants, so as to avoid possible disagreements. If a problem arises, I believe the solution is compriomise on both sides and that is good negotiation. It is important to me that there is a comfortable environment for everyone and I attach great importance to consent. Finally, I like to embellish the experience, both with visual and tangible tools for a more immersive experience of the the mind (Maps, badges, tokens, miniatures) and with the right soundtrack which will put us all in the right mood for the game. ”

I prep by
I don't prep. I freestyle. I have a lot of background experience.
Rules are...
Great if properly applied. Cumbersome if not ignored when application is impossible, which needs to be perceived as fast as possible in order to avoid a trainwreck of a session.
My games focus on...
The story. The hierarchy is as follows. 1) Story 2) Player Character Heroes (or Villains if that is the Theme) 3) Dice Rolls at the bottom of the very long list of what is important, are in unorderly fashion: Humiliation of any (player or npc) ie the I step on a banana, Goofy Jokes ie dad jokes
(Nick Fotopoulos) Dungeon Master Adamantine's ideal table
I want an original party of Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, Wizard. These are not combat roles to be filled, rather diffent roles to roleplay. Cleric does the Spiritual mysteries and cleansing or corrupting. Fighter does the Slaying, Protecting, and Conan hero stuff. Rogue finds other ways for the group to move forward sell their loot and save their lives either with a shady deal or just heroically move from the shadows to the spotlight if necessary. Wizard... Wizards move the universe, the Mysteries of the Arcane, the Occult. Wizards alter reality, understand what is at risk, not by having faith to something greater like a God, but by contemplating like a scientist, philosopher and engineer of powers that are only controlled by discipline, or used as tools by the powerful and corrupt.

I think metagaming...
Good if used to bond the group if done the right way and for the right amount. Bad if used to hijack the story, ignore other player's goals and ruining new player experience of learning classic monster weaknesses.
I think it's a red flag when players...
Say stuff like: "That's what my character would do!" Introducing their real world persona, during game time, instead of roleplaying their character. Unless its a like/dislike situation when given feedback, after the game session or during session 0.
I think min/maxing...
Losing its value when gaming with me. Because for one I allow high stat rolls, and two I use all types of stats/skills/powers almost equally, with the exception of eldritch blast which is frankly quite unoriginal and boring.
