Finding a Tales of the Valiant game to play in can feel like searching for a hidden treasure in a vast, untamed wilderness. Whether you're a seasoned roleplayer or a newcomer to the world of tabletop adventures, the struggle to find the right group, setting, or even game master can often seem like an endless challenge. With so many factors to consider—timing, chemistry, and play styles—it’s no wonder that many players find themselves spinning their wheels. So, to help you get started on your ToV adventure, here’s a list of your five best bets to finding the perfect Tales of The Valiant game.

‍

1. StartPlaying

I’m sure this comes as no surprise, but in the scouring of the internet for games of Tales of the Valiant to join, the most consistent and secure way to play is by finding a game through StartPlaying. Not only are there dozens of ToV games to peruse, but the game masters have reviews to look through, and there’s enough games to comfortably find one that fits your schedule. The flexibility, accessibility, and quality of game that StartPlaying provides is unmatched.

2. Discord

There is no shortage of roleplaying Discord servers in nearly every system you can imagine, both text-based and video-call games. In fact, it’s a bit of a double-edged sword. There are so many Discord servers that offer these games, it could be hard to find a table with good chemistry, proper scheduling, and with a game master you trust. Oftentimes, a lot of trial and error goes into finding a good Discord campaign to join. Many of these campaigns tend to fall apart quickly, with a revolving door of players and game masters.

3. Reddit

Reddit is well-known as a one-stop shop for anything you may want to talk about, research, or find. And online games to play in is no exception. Though the most common games are D&D, Tales of the Valiant games have been posted in the Looking For Group (LFG) subreddit. What’s great about this subreddit, is there are extensive pitches by the game masters, so you know exactly what you’re in for and players looking for experienced GM’s can also post. Though ToV games do exist, they are posted infrequently and are certainly on the rarer side of systems to play, but keep in mind that ToV is 5e compatible and that may help cast a wider net when looking online.

4. Meetup

People use Meetup to meet new people, learn new things, find support, get out of their comfort zones, and pursue their passions together. It also doesn’t hurt that membership is free. Here, you can find in-person games with people local to you. This is the holy grail of gaming! However, this is heavily dependent on what city you live in and your accessibility to travel, so finding and being able to attend these games is reliant on many variables.

5. Facebook Groups

There’s a few good things about utilizing the social media you already have to find a game you want to play. By looking for a Tales of the Valiant RPG group, you can post proactively about looking for a game, explaining in detail what kind of game you want to play and if you’re looking for players or for a GM. The downside is that the current two Tales of the Valiant RPG groups have less than 150 members between them, and posts are not frequent. It may seem like a shot in the dark, but it could be worth a try.

Finding the right group and way to play Tales of the Valiant may not be an easy task, but hopefully this post has given you a few new options and avenues to consider. Whether it’s connecting with like-minded adventurers online or gathering a group of friends around the table, the thrill of embarking on a collaborative storytelling journey is worth the effort. Remember, the key is persistence and flexibility—there's a group out there that’s just right for you, and with a little patience and creativity, you’ll find your seat at just the right table. Your next great adventure is just a few clicks away!
