About the adventure

No one is exactly sure when the "holies" began meeting for a weekly ale down at Flynn's. The bartender has a vague recollection it was about 5 years ago? Since then the unlikely group has become regulars - coming in once a week like clockwork. They sit at the round table in the corner and talk about gods only know what - but they seem to have a good time doing it. This particular day, the five clerics arrive to find their local dive has taken a turn for the worst. Can they unite while sober to win back the watering hole? Can their gods be put into action beside one another? Will there still be ale left at the end? ~~~~ This entire one-shot is based off one of the oldest joke premises - and it's meant to be a done of fun because of it. Each of the pre-made characters has their own unique flair, sense of spirit, style of play, and none of them are quite like the others. Even for a one-shot, we will do at least an asynchronous Session Zero. This will give folks a chance to dig into their characters, get to know their fellow players, and familiarize yourselves with your build before play. I don't want to hide the ball here - this is 5 clerics busting in the door of their favorite joint to whoop some ass and take names - they want their table back! What they find inside will require combat prowess, magical expertise, a great sense of humor, and teamwork. No two tables will have exactly the same dynamic, make the same choices, or complete this adventure their own way. This one is designed to not be taken too seriously, but also to be challenging and enjoyable. I can't wait to have you join us!

About me

Hi, my name is Wynn. I am a dad, volunteer, and attorney who lives on the east coast. I'm originally from Western NY (Go Bills!) and have lived in a variety of places around the country. In my day job I get really stressed out, so this is what I do for fun! I had parents who would never have let me near DND as a kid, but who also encouraged me to embrace the worlds of Tolkien, Lewis, L'Engle, and so many more. I grew up with friends who would make wooden swords with me and reenact Redwall scenes out in the grove of trees behind their house. My imagination ran wild. In primary and secondary school, and then in college as well, I became invested in theater of all kinds - Shakespeare, musicals, opera - you name it. I loved being on stage and behind the scenes as well. Given all of those things - it only makes sense that when I finally stumbled upon the world of TTRPGs as an adult I felt like I had found what I'd been missing for such a long time. I dove in head-first, inundating myself first in the work of Critical Role and then on from there. I GMed many times before ever having the chance to play myself, but have been fortunate to be a player several times now - including on a recent (and fantastic) Daggerheart campaign through SPG! I can't wait to connect with more amazing people.

Character creation

Creating your character

This one-shot will use pre-developed characters with sheets made through DND Beyond. Players will get to choose which character they would like to play and will have ample time to get to know them.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a Discord account, a DND Beyond account, and that should be it for the moment!

What WynnSome brings to the table

Through Discord I will set us up with a variety of private channels to help with character learning, maintenance of maps and lore if needed, PC/NPC tracking items as needed/requested, and our Tavern (voice chat). During sessions I will do my best to maintain an audio vibe through Kenku, and provide diverse voices for each and every NPC in our story. I firmly believe that my job is to be collaborative with PCs - not combative! I want to prioritize the Rule of Cool and creativity to maximize player enjoyment while maintaining world/setting integrity!

Homebrew rules

Each of the five Clerics gets one Patronage Boon (this is a physical embodiment of each cleric's specific belief system. If another player is reduced to unconsciousness or has to begin making death saving throws, another PC can choose to sacrifice their boon and call down a godly blessing on the hurt party member, restoring them to consciousness and one hitpoint.

Safety

How WynnSome creates a safe table

Prior to beginning any game with me, I will have you complete a Digital Participant Agreement/No's & Go's Form. The Agreement & Form cover everything from: 1) What to expect from me and my game-style as far as topics, etc. 2) What content is out-of-bounds from the start - my hard lines. 3) What your big No's are (things you are uncomfortable with and don't want in your game). 4) What your Go's are (things you are comfortable with - at various levels - and ok with in your game). 5) My expectations of all participants regarding PC to PC conduct and interactions. 6) The tools/rules in place to help us maintain and monitor throughout game-play as things come up. And more. In my day to day life I work in the middle of situations where boundaries of all kinds have been crossed - personal, community, legal, and others. So I don't want to have to deal with that type of conflict in my free time if it can be avoided! So if you aren't down to be cool, stay calm, and keep things chill - then you'll probably want to look elsewhere.
