About the adventure
In this game, you will play as a fighter in the Nexus, which is an elemental gladiator arena that can change its environment on a whim. You, like every other fighter in the Nexus, have the ability to produce, control, and manipulate one of the four elements, fire, water, earth, and air. You and your team will fight to gain donors and sponsors and completely overthrow your competition, climbing the ranks until you've won the grand prize. You and your team won't just be going up other elemental fighters, however, you will also be going up against monsters, spirits, beings of pure elemental energy, and everything of that sort. This game is, quite obviously, heavily inspired by the broader world of Avatar, and specifically the pro bending shown in the Legend Of Korra. In Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend Of Korra fashion, while you can only control one element, there will be multiple subsets underneath it. For example, someone who controls water will also have the option to use more acid or ice centered abilities, though they can't dip into fire. However, this game will be slightly more relaxed with the hard rules of the world to allow for more player creativity and reflavoring or integration of certain races, spells, or class abilities, like a fire character being able to use daylight or abilities that cause radiant damage.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I have over 6 years of experience GM-ing, across multiple systems. I got into the tabletop world via D&D, and since then I've honed my craft as much as a can with systems like Blades In The Dark, CAIN, Vampire: The Masquerade, and more. I tend to go for more story driven games, where other themes like combat and exploration are used to add depth. Two of the things I value most in a game is freedom and the a good player backstory, one that I can interweave into the world itself.

Creating your character
Character creation will happen before we officially start, and each character will start at level 3. Stats will be designed by rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest. In addition, all characters will start with an extra feat. I will not be implementing or allowing content from Grim Hallow, Valda's, or Illrigger. Anything else, including homebrew, can be approved or disapproved before the start of the game.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you will need for this game is a discord account and a dndbeyond account.
What KEY brings to the table
Due to the nature of PBP, this game will have incredibly detailed and immersive writing, as well as being very flexible in terms of time allocation. This campaign will have pretty tactical combat scenes, with downtime in between that allow for broader roleplay and story progression. Personally, I value creativity more than anything else, and am willing to bend the rules a bit for something to happen, as long as the player is willing to roll for it and take the consequences.
Homebrew rules
A potion(or similar) can be drunk as a bonus action. However, drinking or administering it as an action will allow you to take the full effect instead of rolling dice. On a critical success you will be granted advantage on certain rolls. In addition, on a critical failure, you will suffer disadvantage on certain rolls. This campaign will use special downtime rules, that will allow for you to do many things(buy items, learn things, etc) in addition to roleplaying in between battles.

How KEY creates a safe table
I will be sending each player an RPG Checklist for them to fill out, allowing me to know what to include or exclude from the game. My X, N, and O's can be sent to me, and I uphold an open door policy.
