About the adventure

The Tower of Galdr lies in the center of the continent of Inkara. The land is split seemingly on purpose to divide the people and drive them to it. Above ground, the history of the land is kept as a reminder of the travesties of war, hoping to avoid plummeting to such means. Below, monsters and horrors in an almost impossible labyrinth guard untold treasures still to be found. Will you try and descend into its depths and become a famous treasure hunter? Will you work to try and work to give your home country more political power? Do you care to build your own empire within the world to usurp the existing system? The choice is yours as you manage your way across the continent and discover hidden secrets of the world. There are many questions that still lay unanswered, will you be the ones to uncover them? This is a sandbox style campaign where the world is yours to make of it. There are many stories actively happening and it will be up to you to find your place and shape the word to your whim.

About me

I have played Dungeons and Dragons since I was a child. It was something I grew up with. Over the years I have played in both private games in-person and over discord as both a Dungeon Master and player. While I have experience in running modules I have become attached to creating my own worlds and personalized storylines. At this point I have almost 30 years of play under my belt with about 12 years of that being a DM. I have worked with other DM's worldwide to develop my talents in providing an immersive experience and story writing. My latest ventures have been in westmarch style play but I am trying to transition back to running more formal style, personal games.

Character creation

Creating your character

There will be a free session 0 during which character creation will happen. Characters will be created in DNDBeyond where a campaign link with allowable resources will be provided in session 0. Ability scores will be rolled then too. Starting Level 2 This will be using 2024 rules with character creation, however discussion during session 0 will be allowed if an exception is desired. Ravnica Guilds will exist in alternative versions adapted to the homebrew setting and players will be able to utilize related features. There will be no spacejammers in this setting.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord will be utilized as the primary communication method for this game. There will be a specific server to join provided to you. VTT through Discord will be available but not necessary. While not every session will require DNDBeyond Maps it will be used for combat scenarios and where appropriate. It works best in a browser and as a heads up may have problems loading onto a mobile device browser (cell phone).

What DM - Stile brings to the table

I will be providing detailed settings for the players along with maps and visual aids as best as I can. While I do try to stick to Rules as Written for simplicity sake in most situations, I do enjoy seeing an amazing scene being played out as much as the next person. Tell me what you are trying to do and let Rule of Cool run to the best I can allow. The story and setting will allow players to really develop a character they can invest their time and energy into while also providing rich but sometimes difficult situations to allow for growth and development. A combination of open scenario choices and challenging combat situations will help to guide players to build a character they can enjoy. Writing the setting in a way to incorporate PC backstories will also allow me to provide each player with a unique experience in becoming a part of the world. Bringing a character's backstory into play as a sidequest or as a detail in the main storyline is a way in which I hope to make each player feel like an integral part of the story.

Homebrew rules

1) Insight it out - If you aren't sure what to do with the information your character has been provided, you can ask for a general Insight check in order to see what a viable option might be. 2) Drinking a potion is a Bonus Action - You can give a potion as an Action to a downed character.

Safety

How DM - Stile creates a safe table

Considering I will be running this as a PBP style, I will be using X, N, & O style notifications. It can either be applied to a message via Reactions in Discord, or it can be messaged directly. However you feel comfortable. The story will develop and be written as the sessions progress, but if there are any subjects or matters that are a hard-no for anyone that can be brought up in Session 0 or at any point to me. After every session, I will be giving out a short Google form to fill out regarding how you felt it went. There will be a space there as well for any information you feel is necessary to be brought up. You will not need a Google account to fill out the form.
