About the adventure

You find yourself looking for work, in one way or another, and join in on a long term caravan of traders and merchants travelling to Kara-Tur, the far east. There will be several new locations for players and characters alike to visit and explore, with tons of intrigue and adventures!! Journey from south of the Sword Coast, through the Shaar, and into new countries, all of which differ from your character's upbringing. Protect the caravan to their main location and you may find yourself in the favor of powerful individuals of Kara-Tur. This is a completely homebrewed campaign with new equipment and magic items, spells, subclasses, ofcourse Monsters!! I also have a new battle mechanic for "Large Scale Battles" that we will be using, as most of Kara-Tur is embroiled in either war or invasion of otherworldly beings!!

About me

I absolutely love being a DM, online or in person. DM online. I was forced into it by my friends wanting to play D&D, but no one wanting to run the games. I took the mantle and enjoy it a lot. I'm a storyteller above anything else. I've ran a few one shots and short campaigns. I wanted to get into running online games and teaching others how to play. I love the creativity, teamwork, storytelling, and fun over everything else. Combat is fun, but it isn't the whole game. Roleplaying is a big part, but I never force anyone to roleplay if they feel shy. Everyone who wishes to join one of my games will be sent a link to my Discord. It's a great place for the community of TTRPGers!! And we love having new people join into our warm and welcoming channel! My job is to make sure that everyone has a great time and builds friendships!!!

Character creation

Creating your character

Upon joining this campaign, I'll send a link to my amazing Discord community! There we will introduce you to the others, rolls some stats, and bounce ideas off of each other. From there, you'll be sent the DnDBeyond link to build your character, unless you want to wait til Session Zero. Your character will start at Level 3, as we pick up outside the Sword Coast, roughly 4 months of travel! We will use the voice chat (video if you wish) and the Above VTT that is connected to DnDBeyond.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Make sure to have downloaded the AboveVTT plugin on Chrome or Firefox, a good mic or headset, a Discord account, DnDBeyond account, and a cooperative attitude!! Remember, we are all telling a story together. There is no one main character, all of you are the main characters!!!

What James brings to the table

I will bring with me a homebrew adventure, with many adventure hooks and endings!! This is a pretty big sandbox that I'm sharing (with in reason). I will bring ambient music and sounds, voices, deep lore of the areas, challenging combat, political intrigue, and a strong sense of storytelling between all of us at the table. I bring the bones of the story, you bring me the rest of the body!!

Safety

How James creates a safe table

We will do a Session 0 to go over character ideas, broad strokes of the adventure, what I expect, what you expect, and things we we will not talk about during session (I have a few hard passes). I do answer messages regularly, in case there's anything you want to discuss about a session. Always communicate with me, and I will try my hardest to fix any issues that can be fixed!!
