Yeehaw of Cthulhu | Play By Post | Pulp Cthulhu Weird Wild West
The weird old west holds no shortage of tales, lawmen, outlaws, strange cults and the common folk caught in between. What manner of cowpoke are you?
About the adventure
"You folks ain't from around here are ya?" The bartender, a portly man in the middle of polishing a glass with a dirty rag inquired as he looked you up and down appraisingly, "Well, if you're looking for work, there's plenty to be found here in San Sanguine. The mines are full of minerals, and we've become a bit of a destination for travelers and academics alike." He paused, considering, "But maybe you're folks of action, and if so we need you, the sheriff has been having a hard time dealing with a rabble of troublemakers acting a fool in broad daylight lately, and there's rumors there's some manner of animals snatching people off the streets after dark...never a dull moment in San Sanguine I'll tell ya what." --- ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ฅ๐ ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ค๐ฅ Yeehaw of Cthulhu is a play by post Pulp Cthulhu game set in the weird west, and an era in the CoC universe that I am building. My main focus is in creating one on one adventure stories for whatever character the player would like to create, with opportunities for group play as time allows for participants. Create or pick a weird west hero and dive and together we'll explore the stranger and more dangerous landscape of the 1800s America a couple universes to the left of our own. I offer my games on a sliding scale pricing structure, if you can afford to pay me, wonderful, I love paying my rent. If you cannot, that's fine, I love writing stories even when I'm not financially incentivized to do so. Happy to work with beginners to the CoC systems, Neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ players welcomed. I work with each and every player to create a bespoke story about their character, and I am very quick to reply to posts to move the story forward. If you find it's hard to create a block of time for a live game and want a story that will move along at a pace that is comfortable for you, you will find that I am very punctual in moving the story forward whenever I receive a reply.

About me
Aspirational, cautionary, horrific, wondrous, sweet, funny, and tragic. Stories are a balm to sooth in hard times, a plan for growth, and a chance to reflect. A hobby nearly as old as humanity itself, sitting around fires and spinning yarn with good company. This is the tradition I seek to embody. Greetings seeker, thank you for seeing me. You may be asking yourself, "With so many options available on this lovely website, why should you decide to sit at my table? What sets this person apart?" To that I say I do not wish to be set apart. I want to sit with you, and find out the story your heart yearns to sing. I want to help explore something new, I would very much like to show you why I love collaborative storytelling. If you're new, I want to show you what this beautiful hobby has to offer, and if you're a veteran storyteller and already know? Then I want to see what we can make applying our skills together. I'm a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and I'm fond of the many things that make everyone unique human beings, and I will strive to create a safe and fun environment to explore the stories we tell together. Finally, I'm more than happy to work with beginners to any system I'm familiar with to help you learn the game. For the more experienced player, I love the act of exploring oneself through characters, and I would be happy to create the space for said exploration. So wanderer, if you're curious, feel free to direct message me with any questions you might have, I am always glad to make new friends!

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Inclusive
Storytelling
Creativity
Liz is a GM who's curious and open-minded. She's interested in hearing your ideas; especially if youโre imagining your own campaign concept (if thatโs a direction you'd like to explore). Sheโs not afraid to put her own spin on โofficialโ material: think taking real-world facts and twisting them into something more imaginative and surprising. Liz juggles a ton of hobbies, plays loads of rpgโs, and somehow manages to GM multiple campaigns. No idea how she does it! She runs her games using the 'Pulp Cthulhu' gamesystem, which tends to be a fun and flexible framework without too many bells and whistles. The system has a few clever mechanics that can really let the story spiral in interesting, and sometimes wild directions, thanks to some lucky (or unlucky) die rolls. If you ever want to change your posting frequency, thatโs always open for discussion. If you're looking for a GM who knows the rules, is easy to reach (as long as you respect her time), and brings interesting NPCs, clever plot twists, and mature storytelling; I'd definitely recommend Liz.
I have been lucky enough to be a player in Lizโs games for over ten years. She has a comprehensive knowledge of many types of game systems, including Pathfinder, D&D 5e and the Apocalypse system to name but a few. Lizโs creativity really knows no bounds - she has created whole worlds for us to play in and pushed the envelope of what I thought would be possible in a TTRPG game. Youโll never struggle to find a story in one of her games and she knows how to keep storylines flowing seamlessly even if youโre unsure yourself. Liz is very approachable, open-minded and inclusive as a GM and I trust her implicitly to guide our stories in a fun and enjoyable direction.
I have played in Elizabeth's games multiple times over the years and have found them very enjoyable. These games often had 8+ players and she was still able to craft an individual experience for each player and each character. Elizabeth is a very role-play centric DM and the rule of cool reigns supreme. 10/10, would play again.
Liz is a terrific GM. Expect sessions that encourage creative problem solving in character. She is great for players who are beginners as well as experienced players (even for some of each in the same game). Surmount unique challenges as a team with plenty of opportunities to shine individually as well. Liz uses her voice, music, and maps to set the scene and mood, and give flavor to NPCs. This made it a lot easier for me to bounce off her energy and get into character. Maybe you have something you want to work on/through IRL using role play/DND/GURPS? She is the perfect GM for that. She is also experienced with working with players who have trauma, are diverse in various ways, like gender diverse and neurodiverse. Liz is WELL VERSED in how the rules work for DND and GURPS and is happy to help others understand. She also respects the Rule of Cool. If I could only ever have one GM in the future for some reason, it'd be Liz.
Character creation
Creating your character
As this is a play by post game, my intent is to work with each player to create a character they are excited to see the story of unfold. However I've also made a variety of pre-made characters that may be of interest to folks who are new, or simply enjoy picking up a character and playing it.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a discord account and a PDF reader. I use https://www.dholeshouse.org/Characters/CoCv7Investigators/Pulp/Default for character creation as the process is well streamlined and provides a nice PDF sheet upon completion.
What Weird Wanderings brings to the table
I bring any books you'll need for character creation, years of roleplaying and system experience, and a mind full of creative and strange situations for your characters to find themselves into and out of. You bring your imagination and a character you want to see explore a fictional and strange wild west, and together we'll have a real fun time seeing what happens.
Homebrew rules
Full Homebrew rules on discord. In short, some skills are tweaked according to the era in which the character is played, and experience is modified for play by post. I am open to homebrew traits/spells/artifacts according to whatever story we're looking to tell.

How Weird Wanderings creates a safe table
The 1800's was a rough time of rough people, and the addition of mythos and horror only makes it rougher. But for as uncomfortable as the world might be, I want the players to feel comfortable and safe at all times. To that end I seek to always keep an open line of dialogue about what we might explore in the story, and will adjust as necessary if we get too deep in the weeds of horror and need to pump the breaks for some reason. We roleplay to have fun and player enjoyment is my foremost goal, so over the table communication is paramount to me.
