About Samuel
I run mostly homebrew DnD 5E, Pathfinder 2E, Starfinder 1E, and Starfinder 2E games using Discord and Foundry VTT. I have been playing since 2012 and DMing since 2015. I try to incorporate a balance of RP, exploration, and combat into my games. I don't restrict any classes or races, as long as they're in the books you can play it. I play by the rule of cool, so always use your imagination! I started on DnD 3.5 and from there went into a Pathfinder 1e game and played that campaign for years. What I love about TTRPG's is all the innovative and creative ways to solve a problem.

How Samuel runs games
In one word my style is relaxed. We're all here to have fun and roll some math rocks so give me your craziest ideas and let her rip. My games usually have serious moments, humorous moments, and a little bit of drama sprinkled in there. I will always highly encourage role play (it is two thirds of RPG) but will never try to force it. Player comfortability is highly important to me so you will never be forced to role play if you do not want to. I, however, will ALWAYS be doing a voice for my NPCs. The most important rule in the game is the rule of cool. Rules are more like guidelines to telling a fun and compelling story. When it comes to combat I like to make sure there are tactical, environmental, and objective based aspects to it. To me it becomes a little stale just having two characters stand next to each other hitting each other with swords. Every campaign I have run has been homebrewed. I like to do my own world building, NPC creation, and encounters. I don't have anything against running a module, and I would, but to me creating a world from scratch is one of the most rewarding aspects of DMing.

Rules are...
Just guidelines to the game. The goal is fun so rules should not get in the way of that. They provide a good structure and base for what you can and cannot do, but they shouldn't get in the way of creativity.
When it comes to voices
I use them for pretty much every NPC. I may not remember to use the right voice every time, but I will use a voice every time.
Samuel 's ideal table
I love roleplaying and encourage it at every level. Players that get into their characters shoes and really immerse themselves in the game are my favorite. One of my biggest pet peeves is players who view the game as a "Players vs. DM" situation. I don't like power gaming or people trying to "win" TTRPG's.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Humor. I always incorporate some form of humor into my NPCs.
I love it when a player
Takes notes, engages with NPCs, takes an interest in the setting, and asks questions first and shoots later.
I think min/maxing...
Takes away from the soul of TTRPG's. I encourage characters with flaws and roleplaying those flaws of your character. This is not a video game, it is a role-playing game.
