About the adventure

Welcome to Beast Feast, a whimsical yet wild Daggerheart campaign set in a world where communities live alongside magical monsters—some hunted, some herded, all part of a sacred cycle of survival and supper. But when the Gatekeeper system fails, and the feast falters, your village must look to the strange, the stubborn, and the slightly unhinged for salvation. In this 4–6 session mini-campaign, you’ll journey through bubbling bogs, wandering markets, and sacred kitchens in search of missing beasts and buried truths. šŸ„ You might be a moss druid who talks to turnips, a culinary priest who prays over pickles, or just a very tired ranger with a recipe for grilled basilisk. šŸ„¬šŸ¦Ž Whatever your flavor, your choices will shape whether the Feast gets rebuilt—or reinvented. The tone is Ghibli-meets-cryptid-farm-to-table: high on heart, weird in the best way, and just earnest enough to make you cry over a glowing mushroom cow. 🐮✨ It’s a place for laughter, connection, and a touch of the surreal—all grounded in the crunchy fun of Daggerheart’s domains, hope/dread rolls, and bond-building play. I’m a queer GM who loves collaborative storytelling, joyful weirdness, and making sure everyone feels seen at the table. šŸ’– We’ll cover safety tools in Session 0, including Lines & Veils, X/N/O cards, and aftercare check-ins. Your comfort—and your chaos—is welcome here.

About me

My partner jokes that becoming a GM my final pokemon form. I started playing TTRPGs in 2017, but has been a lifelong sci-fi and fantasy nerd and actually wrote her doctoral dissertation on TTRPGS. I am a professional GM I bring over 20+ year of acting and improvisation to my GMing and I love teaching folks new games and creating stories that spark their excitement. I'm a huge fan of indie games and loves to introduce new and seasoned players alike to creative one-shots that help folks build confidence around their own ability to role-play and (hopefully) GM. When I'm not rolling dice, I am improviser and ensemble member of Malarkey Comedy. You can usually find me scouting locations for her ongoing four year campaign of Monster of the Week that’s set in an alternative spooky Chicago.

Holy Crap! One of the most amazing experiences ever! This is not hyperbole. As a Forever GM with decades of experience, SUZ PhDM was the sizzle! Fantastic inclusion, incredible improv, wonderful tutorial for a game I haven't opened yet! Additionally, the system and Suz skillz along with the players amazing abilities gave me one of the most memorable sessions ever. I have played at the table with loved ones and close friends, I have played casually online, I have played in games broadcast live on You Tube with excellent DM's and role players...this session is in my top 3 in no particular order. Excellent work Suz PhDM. Will seek you out to learn other systems and have an amazing experience. Chef's Kiss!

Suz is a great narrative storyteller- they made all of us feel included in everything even when other players were in the spotlight. They did a great job of explaining the rules in a way that made sense and also staggering them so that we didn't have 30 mins of infodump at the beginning of the game.

Suz is a friendly, patient, and creative DM who made sure everyone at our table had a chance to feel seen and heard. I played in a Daggerheart one-shot and the group had great synergy, thanks in large part to Suz's ability to facilitate conversation and keep players focused. Suz was also great at teaching the system to new players without stalling the pace. Highly recommend experiencing a Suz PhDM game; you won't regret it!

I played a Brtindlewood Bay one shot, ran by susan, called Night at the Whaling Museum; and it was absolutely wonderful! Susan was incredibly skilled in weaving a spooky, Lovecrafting mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat all night. Her storytelling prowess really brought the game to life, and the camaraderie among the players was a cherry on top. I left the session eager to play more, and I am already anticipating Susan's next gaming adventure. I would say this is a must play for fans of both cozy mysteries and Lovecraftian genres.

Susan provided us with a great introduction to the rules of a new system, and helped us quickly build rapport. Fantastic GM.

Character creation
Creating your character

You'll use Demiplane to create your character and we'll use Discord to chat and form the party before the first session.

The current party

Join a vibrant band of adventurers in this original Daggerheart mini-campaign, perfect for newcomers and seasoned players alike! Together, you’ll play a mismatched party of heroes—including an earnest Warrior eager to prove themselves, a curious Trickster with a soft spot for found family, a thoughtful Sage uncovering forgotten magic, and a heartful Elementalist whose powers are as unpredictable as their emotions. Expect big feelings, hopeful heroics, and Ghibli-style charm as you face magical mishaps, strange forest spirits, and the mystery of the fabled Beast Feast. This is a beginner-friendly, queer-inclusive table where cooperation, creativity, and emotional storytelling shine. ✨ No prior Daggerheart experience needed—just bring your imagination, kindness, and a taste for adventure!

What to expect
Preparing for the session

You'll need a Demiplane and Discord account. You'll join my discord server for the game and we'll discuss there!

What Suz PhDM brings to the table

As a GM, I’m all about collaborative storytelling, emotional stakes, and building a world that responds to your choices. I lean into the Rule of Cool—if it makes narrative sense and feels awesome, we’ll find a way to make it happen. Daggerheart's system supports bold, character-driven play, and I’ll help you bring your hero to life with rich arcs, evolving bonds, and meaningful decisions that reshape the story. Expect a mix of roleplay, light tactical combat, and moral choices, with the spotlight shared across the table. I use character voices for major NPCs, and you’re welcome to bring as much or as little flair as you like. I'm a queer GM who values safety, inclusion, and shared storytelling—whether you're new to TTRPGs or a seasoned player, you'll have space here to explore, connect, and play without judgment. I love helping players tie their characters into the setting, and I’ll work with you during Session Zero to create custom story hooks tied to the corruption, the factions, or the forest gods. Whether you want drama, weirdness, quiet beauty, or chaos, we’ll shape something unforgettable together.

Homebrew rules

I have home brewed that if a character rolls a failure with hope in combat, they can take a stress to keep me from taking narrative control. It's a devil's bargain!

Safety
How Suz PhDM creates a safe table

Safety is a central part of the experience. Before we begin, I’ll send you a Lines and Veils form via Google Docs where you can anonymously flag content you want excluded or handled with care. In Session 0, we’ll go over the tone of the game, character concepts, bonds, faction ties, and shared expectations around play and consent. We’ll also discuss the Witherwild’s themes—ecological horror, transformation, moral ambiguity—and make sure everyone is on board. During play, we’ll use X, N, and O signals—you can type them in chat, say them aloud, or use visual cues depending on what feels most comfortable. After each session, I offer a few minutes for stars and wishes, including space for questions, processing, or just casual decompression. You can always message me privately if something doesn’t sit right. My goal is for this to be a collaborative space where your voice matters and your boundaries are respected.
