In Limithron’s Dark Caribbean, a stolen grimoire on ancient sea monsters draws you into pirate ambushes and Port Royal’s underworld—and a hidden cult
About the adventure
Blood and Rum: Curse of the Drunk Octopus is a thrilling 18th-century one-shot adventure for Pirate Borg, set in Limithron's Dark Caribbean. The party is hired by a renowned English scholar to recover a stolen, one-of-a-kind tome detailing ancient sea creatures. Their journey takes them across the Atlantic to Port Royal, Jamaica, where they must pick up the trail of a missing group of adventurers who mysteriously vanished while on the same mission months ago. Their arrival is anything but smooth—pirates attack their transport ship before they even set foot on shore. Once in Port Royal, they navigate seedy rum bars and shadowy alleys to uncover the truth, leading them to the estate of Sir Thomas Whitaker, a former governor with a passion for rare books and a past riddled with secrets. As they dig deeper, they uncover a hidden cult working to awaken an ancient horror lurking beneath the waves. The adventure is a high-stakes mix of swashbuckling action, supernatural horror, and mystery, featuring ship battles, eldritch conspiracies, and a race against time to stop a dark ritual before it dooms the Caribbean. Will the party recover the stolen book and prevent the return of an ancient evil, or will they find themselves lost to the depths, like so many before them? Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Creativity
Knows the Rules
Inclusive
Had a lot of fun running through the Night at the Museum one-shot. Ken was very helpful in figuring out how to use the Foundry VTT (I usually play on Roll20, so there was a bit of a learning curve for me). He definitely made use of the Rule of Cool, which is much appreciated and was very flexible as we were figuring out some of the differences at higher levels with the 2024 5E rules.
Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation for your Pirate Borg game will utilize The Tavern, a tool in Foundry for generating random pirates.

GM Style Relaxed Roleplay: I’ll aim to bring NPCs to life with lighthearted character voices and playful personalities, keeping interactions fun and welcoming for players of all experience levels. Atmospheric Music and Sounds: Festive music and gentle ambient sounds will enhance the game’s cozy, holiday atmosphere. Think crackling fires, jingling bells, and cheerful tunes to set the mood. Casual Challenges: While there will still be puzzles, exploration, and combat, the stakes are lower, and the focus is on shared fun rather than intense tactics. Creative solutions and teamwork will shine here. Rule of Fun: I’m flexible with the rules to keep things lighthearted and entertaining. Expectations for Players Relax and Have Fun: This is a laid-back holiday game meant to spark joy and create memorable moments. Feel free to play a quirky character, make bold choices, and embrace the festive silliness.
