About the adventure

You're a shadowrunner, a street operative, scratching out a living on the mean sprawl streets. You may be human, elf, dwarf, ork, or troll. From lethal street samurai to well-connected info brokers, spell-slinging mages, or code-cracking hackers. No matter what, you're a professional corporate pawn or "deniable asset," you get the job done.

Jason made it extremely easy and non-pressuring for a new player like me to transition to the Daggerheart system. He's also open and willing to chat about anything outside of work if you need help, advice, or a third-party to listen to you. As a roleplay focused player, there's something about the way that Jason integrates NPC interactions with characters that feels like such a smooth, in-world experience tailored to exactly how your character is acting. There's a genuine sense of connection between these passing personalities in the world and your character, without that slightly disjointed sense between an NPC and the player characters. It's quite nice! His improvisation on what to do both mechanically and to encourage players' creativity shows just how much experience he has with this, contributing to the smoothness of the experience. His congenial hosting with a lot of mind to comforts of players also creates a very comfortable feeling at the table. I've enjoyed every session!

Do not let the somewhat minimalist set-up fool you, Jason is a skilled GM and storyteller. Even without one of the populair VVT but only using bots and discord, he is able to paint a compelling scene. With his ability to adjust on the fly, he embraces player creativity and the unexpected. Aditionally, he is patient with new players and willing to change things up if things do not work.

I recently completed the Shadowrun tutorial with Jason and couldn’t be more impressed! In the tutorial we arranged, he covered all the essential mechanics of the game (deckers) in a way that is engaging and easy to understand. As someone new to the Shadowrun 6e universe, I found the step-by-step guidance incredibly helpful.

I did a one-shot "learn to play" for City of Mist with Jason. He explained the game well, had a good adventure ready for us, and I had a great time playing. Recommended!

From the moment I signed up for Jason's Daggerheart play-test, I knew I was in for something special. Jason's passion for the game and his dedication to creating an engaging and immersive experience were evident right from the start. Preparation and Communication: Jason's pre-game communication was top-notch. He provided all necessary materials well in advance, including a detailed overview of the Daggerheart system, a custom character creation worksheet, and a beautifully crafted world primer. His willingness to answer questions and provide clarifications made the onboarding process smooth and enjoyable. Session Experience: Jason's storytelling skills are nothing short of exceptional. He has a knack for weaving intricate plots with rich, multi-dimensional characters that instantly drew me into his home-brew world he created to use the Daggerheart system. His descriptions and art were vivid, making it easy to visualize the settings and actions, which greatly enhanced the overall immersion. Gameplay and Mechanics: As a play-test, Daggerheart has its quirks, but Jason handled them with the finesse of a seasoned GM. He was knowledgeable about the rules and adaptable, ensuring that the game flowed smoothly even when we encountered the occasional hiccup. His ability to balance combat, role-playing, and exploration kept the sessions dynamic and exciting. He was even able to get a contact, who built a custom multiplayer dice roller for the game. Player Engagement: One of Jason's greatest strengths is his ability to engage and involve all players. He made sure everyone had their moment in the spotlight and tailored the story to incorporate our characters' backgrounds and motivations. His encouragement and positive feedback created a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel comfortable and confident in contributing to the story. Even though my session numbers have fallen to two in number, Jason is still the complete professional. Creativity and Flexibility: Jason's creativity shone through in every aspect of the game. He introduced unique challenges and unexpected twists that kept us on our toes. Moreover, his flexibility in adapting the story based on our actions and decisions made the game feel truly collaborative and player-driven. Final Thoughts: Playing in Jason's Daggerheart play-test has been an incredibly rewarding experience. His exceptional GMing skills, combined with his deep understanding of the game system and his ability to create an engaging and inclusive environment, made each session a highlight of my week. I highly recommend joining one of Jason's games if you have the chance. Whether you're a seasoned player or new to table top RPGs, you're guaranteed an unforgettable adventure. If there was any justice, there would be a waiting list to get on one of his tables. Thank you, Jason, for an amazing Daggerheart play-test. I can't wait to see where our journey takes us next!

How will character creation work

Will session 0 be free? Unfortunately, No. But if we get to the end of the week 1 session and everything is GROOVY, then I will refund week 1. This is to protect my time in the getting-to-know-you bit, Character Creation will be done together at session Zero.
