D&D: Lost Mines of Phandelver
In the village of Phandalin, not all is as it seems. Goblins, bandits, and orcs upset the idyllic region all seeking the same prize...
About the adventure
Nestled on the northern Sword Coast, between Neverwinter Wood and the Sword Mountains, is the town of Phandalin. Centuries ago, Phandalin was a thriving settlement with deep ties to its neighboring communities. But then bandits overran the town, and Phandalin lay abandoned for centuries. Only in the past few years have settlers built a new village on the ruins of the old. These townsfolk hope to grow Phandalin through hard work, camaraderie, and the shared purpose of building a lasting home. Threatening their efforts and their survival are bandits, brigands, and monsters. You're on your way there now to meet a business partner and find yourselves in the adventure of a lifetime...

About me
I've been fascinated by TTRPGs ever since a few friends had me join their table. The first game I played was a Homebrew world with Pathfinder rules, and I couldn't get over the sense of freedom and community I felt when we played; I was immediately hooked. In hindsight, that first game was pretty terrible, but it's ultimately what led me to start running games myself. My GM journey began with the very clunky Star Wars: The Role-playing Game. The system itself was not ideal, but I was able to gather my friends once a week and enjoyed crafting new stories for them. Now, I've been running games off and on for well over a decade for players from all over the world. While I was working as a contractor out of an air base in Japan, I managed to meet a hub of players and we created a small community. In that time, I built a modest collection of games based on franchises I enjoy. I've had a great variety of different players in my games over the years and am used to many differences in player styles. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Being new to the world of TTRPGs I didn't know what a GM could bring to the game. How much knowledge and style affect the game. So I was fortunate to have Dylan as GM. Dylan has an amazing talent for story creation that is incredibly well-developed, detailed, adventurous and absorbing. Whenever GMing, his in-depth knowledge of the game's world and rules is extraordinary and he elicits excitement and laughter, as well as, eagerness, suspense and rivalry. I have played a couple of games with Dylan as GM and I appreciate his patience and help. When the current session is over, I'm already impatient for the next. No matter what game Dylan runs he makes the world believable and true so expect all aspects of the game to be accessible. Expect camaraderie, competition, fighting, monsters, wounds, magic, diplomacy, lightness, intrigue, passion... Expect a grand adventure.
I'll be honest, I've played with a few subpar dm's/GM's and Dylan is not one of them. He's a fantastic GM who can adapt a story to player choice quickly (just be ready for the consequences of your actions!) and he has fantastic map making skills and a sense of humor! He's definitely a RAW gm; but make no mistake, you'll never be bored in one of Dylan's games! I highly, highly recommend him to new players and ttrpg veterans alike.
Dylan is an incredible and patient GM. He works well with people who are just learning a system and great with people who know the system well. He does an excellent job at letting people do what they want (within reason) while ensuring everyone else has fun. Hands down one of the best GMs I've had in my years of playing TRPGs!
Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will happen in a group Session 0.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A Discord account and working mic are required. A Webcam is preferred, but not mandatory. A basic understanding of the rules from the Player's Handbook. We're on FoundryVTT, so no physical items are required. Dice and Character Sheets are included in the system.
What Dylan brings to the table
I will bring art, maps, and music; as well as host FoundryVTT. I tend to follow a "Natural Consequences of your Actions" style of GMing. I will never force a loss and never force a success. Players win or lose based on their own choices and dice rolls.
