About the adventure
It's the winter solstice, and your party is celebrating the longest night of the year with the rest of the town. It's all fun and games and spiced cider...until the Snow Queen, an archfey of legend, kidnaps a young person from the town, whisking them away to her palace of ice in the Feywild. In this whimsical, seasonal one-shot, your party of heroes will venture into the fantastical Feywild. Can you rescue the Snow Queen's victim before their heart freezes entirely? Can you survive the Snow Queen's domain of endless winter? Can you defeat—or redeem—the Snow Queen? You'll explore the Snow Queen's ice palace, uncover her secrets, meet cute talking animals, and maybe save the day. Expect inclusive, high-magic, roleplay-heavy, lighthearted fun in this one-shot. The Feywild awaits!

About me
Hi, I'm Emi! I'm a queer, trans GM who loves running games full of fun and whimsy, and creating spaces for players to have safe and exciting emotional experiences. I love GMing for players who want to be heroes; I love to present problems that can be solved with the power of friendship and doing your best; and I'm not interested in making anyone count their arrows or repair their boots. I also enjoy adapting tropes and archetypes, and seeing how players interact with them in unexpected ways. I'd describe most of my games as having "fairy tale energy." I'm happy to do custom bookings for groups or for duet games, for any of the systems I've listed here on my profile—if you think you might like my style and you have something specific in mind, shoot me a message and I'll give you a quote!

Creating your character
Character creation should happen before the session. I'll be available for questions through Discord. Characters should be: - Level 2 - Created with only officially published DnD material, using the 2014 rules - sources I don't have access to on DnDBeyond are OK, if you're willing to do the work to set that up yourself - Added to the DnDBeyond campaign - Heroic...or motivated to befriend and work with heroes! Your character should have: - Stats from standard array or point-buy - Standard starting equipment, plus... - 100 gp of adventuring gear, including healing potions - one uncommon magic item - one common magic item ...and since this is a wintry one-shot, I'd suggest not building a character around cold damage.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players absolutely need, before the session: - A character created through D&D Beyond - An active Discord account - A working microphone - Headphones, or other way to prevent audio feedback - A basic understanding of the rules of D&D - A heart open to whimsy and fun Strongly suggested: - A working webcam - A device with a large screen, e.g. laptop or desktop computer; tablets and mobile phones often have problems with the VTT
What GM Emi brings to the table
- Maps, tokens, etc on Owlbear Rodeo - A D&D Beyond campaign for character creation, including content from the PHB (2014), Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, The Book of Many Things, and more! - A Discord server for in-game and out-of-game chatting and questions - Immersive ambient music and soundscapes - Combat that incorporates roleplay - A welcoming, inclusive environment

How GM Emi creates a safe table
I'll send out a quick Google Form before the session to inquire about players' limits and preferences. We'll review these limits (anonymized) at the beginning of the session. During the session, we'll use a traffic light system to indicate if anyone needs to stop or check in. Traffic light cards will be available on Roll20, and everyone is also welcome to use this system verbally—or just say "hey, wait, I'd like to check in about that"! Debriefing will occur after gameplay is over, while we're still on the call. Feedback and player safety is very important to me! We'll be using the 2014 ruleset. Listing artwork includes snow castle image by Elevit-Dragon-Stock (DeviantArt).
