About me

Greetings! I am Dunein, well that is my handle that I have gone by for along time on online gaming and my first D&D Character, a Dwarf Paladin of Tyr. However, my name is Henry and I truly enjoy the game of Dungeons and Dragons. It is what I do in my free time and I have expanded this hobby to something I really enjoy and love. I enjoy creating things, art, game maps, characters, but most of all a story that what starts with a group of strangers sitting down at a computer or in person and learning about the story they want to weave together to create a spark of fun. About who I am, I picked D&D 5E up after I moved to a new city and joined a random group that became my friends. I was hooked I bought the players hand book and after a bit I knew I wanted to run my own game. So I started and now I have been running games now for the past 4 years, both in person and online. From the start I always wanted to run my own setting and world and I have developed one, created the world of "Wind Tales" a place that many an adventuring group can start from the same place and create there own legends. Each group and player all have a place in my world for a long time after they set foot here and make their mark. You might even encounter a few along the way. Play Style: - "The Rule of Cool" I do in fact play by this, if you want to do something awesome and impactful to the story. I will do my best to make that happen. However it should be balanced in the world and equitable to all the players at the the table. - Game Session length: most games session will be three to four hours in length, closer to the three hours. I will communicate if a game session is expected to be longer than usual. - Long Term group vs one shot; if we are playing a one shot typically I will have pre-made characters and allow everyone to pick based on a roll off for who goes first. If we looking for a longer term game, we will hold a session 0. - Session 0: we discuss the campaign setting, group goals, and create our characters together, we will roll for our ability scores. - The typical long term group play will be a weekly game, after we have establish the group 3 to 6 players. most likely a week day night. Table Rules: I do hold a few table rules for myself and the players who would like to be a part part of this collaborative story telling experience. 1. Respect for all, I have an expectation for any individual to have understanding and willingness to to learn about each other and the adventurer who joins our table. This is a place to have fun and tell a story with others. I want you all to have a great time and I encourage for everyone who joins us to do so as well. 2. No Go areas: anything harmful to do with children. I will not roleplay anything sexual of infer any sexual situations. All players have the right to set any additional areas as well as part of the session 0. All one shots will be "PG-13" in content. 3. Meta Gamming: please do not, examples looking up monster stat blocks. 4. Dice Rolls: Virtually or in person you choice, I personally will by rolling my own physical dice, I enjoy it and allow others to do so, be honest with your rolls. Cheating on dice rolls for a TTRPG is totally lame. 5. Have fun, and please do not limit other funs, share the spot light. At times there may be times it is one players time to shine and we should all respect their time to own that role playing moment. I am excited to play with you, and I want to know your story, this world is yours to form and build and cerate with others, lets have some fun and roll some dice!

Character creation
Creating your character

There are few options for character creation, 1. Come prepared with your character build except for your dice rolls for stats 2. Roll the random button, we will roll for statics during session 0/1 3. Pre-Made Character (available for review before selecting, created by me or the module) 4. I play with anything published by WoTC for D&D 5E only homebrewing is flavor / nothing mechanical, no homebrew magical items, character race (species), backgrounds, or class please

What to expect
Preparing for the session

Please read the free rule book on DnDbeyond or another source, review and complete the questionnaire that will be sent out before the game begins. Create DnDbeyond account (no need to pay for anything) Join the discord for the campaign Test your equipment before the start of the session, does your microphone and or Camera work properly? Ask questions, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me and I will enjoy helping you out.

What Dunein brings to the table

I will be utilizing the D&D Beyond map systems, with both published and home created maps for use in the game. Your Characters will be in a DNDbeyond campaign where you will create them and manage them. We will be using Discord to communicate, I encourage video but it is not necessary. I encourage group story telling and collaboration over sticking to the rules and running the game by the book. Summary of Sessions: Session 0/1: Session 0 and discussion of game expectations, Character Creation, discuss backstory, bonds and come up with a group name. Then we begin the adventure and start rolling dice and role playing. The first session is a test drive of sorts, if you finish the session and do not want to play a human fighter, please let me know and we can make a one time change before session 2. Session 2-6: Full sessions begin, we will start with any Q&A before, as well as any character changes. I like to start off with a get to know your character better question for everyone. Expect to play for the full 3 hours at this point. Please be courteous of others and be ready to play at the schedule time. When we are close to schedule time slot for ending, roughly 15 minutes prior, I will asses where we are and make a determination and poll the group if we are going to end early or extend possibly. I will always plan for three hours of content to be covered, however sometimes things can become side tracked, I will communicate that if we end up doing additional quests or stray away from the main story line we may have to go an additional session to complete the quest. When I create a new session for postings I will ensure returning players have priority and wish to keep the same group together. If you are a group that want to play together please message me and let me know I am willing to work with existing groups.

Safety
How Dunein creates a safe table

Welcome, to session 0! Session 0/1 is where we discuss our wants for how we want the game to run, I typically will send out a questionnaire / Table Rules before we begin that has things like; 1. What is the one or two things you want to do in character in the game? (I.E. Slay a dragon, find an awesome magical talking sword, save a village from danger) 2. As well as are there certain areas and topics you wish to avoid playing out in the game. 3. I will also in this document have my Lines & Veils (my no go areas), as well as my table rules. 4. We will discuss respect for everyone at the table and how we best demonstrate that respect to others. (aftercare / XN&O) Feedback During & Out of Session After every session I usually am open for feedback and ask everyone in game, however in discord I am always open for feedback. Please note that conversations outside of game sessions may take some time for a response depending on my schedule. During the game session, I encourage everyone to share respectfully with the group and or message me separately if there is an issue that is occurring. If there is tonal shift in what is occurring in the game I will have a short of out game talk that will describe that the tone is going to change.
