About the adventure
A group of down on their luck "travellers" team up to do a simple "ferry home" job from the outer fringe of the Empire as a way to start paying for their new ship - however, things may not be as simple as they seem. [[Notice: Still room to join in this campaign - we can get you caught up!]] Traveller is a science fiction roleplaying game of the far future. Humanity has gone to the stars and found them crowded with other forms of life and other sentient races, and science and technology have advanced vastly over the present day – but the essential nature of humanity is unchanged. Life continues as it does today, only spread out over the sea of stars. A mighty Imperium unites thousands of star systems under a single rule, but it is beset by enemies both internal and external. The Imperium commands the space between the stars, ensuring that civilisation endures and trade continues. Megacorporations and feudal lords conduct the bulk of this trade, but there will always be a place for the free trader – hardy travellers and adventurers, dealing in strange goods and smuggled cargoes, doing whatever they can to make a credit.

About me
Long time gamer and GM for almost as long: very early on in my gaming career I got the bug for writing adventures and setting up scenarios to surprise and entertain a group. I dabbled in drama and other creative outlets over the years but the one constant has been running games; I get more of a kick out of the players' enjoyment of a good session (be it dramatic, tense, comedic, frantic or just political) than I do out of any other creative outlet I ever found! I live in Ireland (UTC / GMT) but can be flexible around scheduling. I don't have a strong accent and (although I am inclined to do some "character voices") I focus on a clear storytelling voice rather than any kind of serious voice acting. It is super important to me that the group is inclusive and welcoming to all. Everyone is entitled to an opportunity to enjoy this hobby in a supportive and inclusive environment. Please be aware of your biases and check them at the door. The group may, as part of the story, face challenges and address social norms / biases etc in a respectful way but as GM I reserve the right to draw a red line where I believe this may cause undue discomfort to other players. Real world prejudice will not be accepted in any group hosted by me. In terms of experience with settings and systems: I have spent many years on and off as a DM for D&D (then AD&D, now D&D again) but over time I also drifted more into gothic and storytelling games (World of Darkness), and science fantasy (Shadowrun / Cyberpunk) and more space faring sci-fi (Traveller and Star Wars). Feel free to reach out if you have a group / would like to start a group and are looking for a GM - I'm open to run pretty much anything I have experience with (non-exhaustive list below, I own the rules to most of those systems in hard copy or digital and if I don't own a copy I'll pick them up). Let's have some fun!!

Storytelling
This review is based on the session 0. WinterGuy was well organized from the start and the session began in a timely manner. The session progressed smoothly and character creation went quickly for having four players involved. He has a solid framework for the campaign that opens up the directions the players can take in accomplishing the overall arc. My expectations are that future sessions will be engaging and provide a good balance of roleplaying, exploration and conflict.
I can't recommend Guy enough. He did a great job helping a number through using Roll 20 to play 5E. He was very patient and helped me overcome a lot of hurtles to play. The game itself was very well done. He knows the DM's craft to a T and really did a fine job bringing Krynn to life on the virtual tabletop with players scattered all over the place. If you get a chance to join one of his games then do it!
Guy is an exceptional GM that goes the extra mile to make gaming fun for the entire group. He’s creative and patient. I highly recommend him for anyone but especially newer gamers that need a more patient GM. Guy is great at what he does - providing in-depth background to the story, moving the narrative and sessions along at a pace that is both satisfying and intriguing. Outside of his role as GM, Guy also seems to be a genuinely good person, which makes sitting at his table all the more enjoyable.
Character creation
Creating your character
Traveller RPG character creation is quite unusual. Character generation is usually a part of the gameplay where the players are guided through quite an enjoyable storytelling of their characters' lives before the adventure begins. Characters develop a backstory / origins stories from their 18 years on into adulthood and track the highs and lows of their former careers. Strongly recommend to do this in a dedicated session - if you join with some advance notice I will arrange a time to assist you one-on-one with individual character creation along with covering session zero topics. I will also have one or two pre-gen characters to choose from but that will never be as much fun as rolling your own :)
Looking for More Players for a Campaign underway and going strong! Join in and I'll catch you up to the group! Free Session 0 and 1:1 character gen in advance of your first group session! This campaign is reaching a major change in arc. This would be a great time to join! Whether you're new to Traveller or a seasoned old hand this is the game for you - we're having a fun run through all sorts of situations with high drama and roleplay at the forefront.

How WinterGuy creates a safe table
My style is quite relaxed and open with a focus on safe fun at the table. I like deep stories and challenging subject matter and will occasionally push comfort zones but I always ensure that we are aligned on boundaries up front (grayzone/redline or lines and veils agreed before the first session) and I fully support breaks and "stops" at any time to assure players' safety and enjoyment. Full parameters to suit the group should be agreed in a session zero (I will always have a free session zero with the starting group as well as an optional background / character shaping session for each player to help them fit their creation into the new universe we're about to create together). For me, character and roleplay should come before system. The rules should be used as a scaffold for the story and should give a framework to support the fun - they should not become the focal point of the adventure. I am a strong believer that we are all at the table to tell a story together and the role of the GM is to guide and facilitate the story of the characters with an underlying plot (which may become subordinate to the character arcs). Everyone should have their chance to shine and to collaborate in getting us all laughing or crying but at the same time everyone should be comfortable in taking a back seat occasionally to enjoy someone else's arc. During session zero we will discuss the tone / darkness of the campaign (the content warnings above are to give a high level indication - specific detail will depend on the players' shared sensibilities). Similarly, lines and veils will be established in session zero (I am happy to accept lines and veils requests in private chat - you do not need to ask publically if you are not comfortable doing so).
