About the adventure

This game is set in Eberron, Khorvaire, a continent torn apart by way, we'll push the Noir and Intrigue side of the setting, with usually 3 possible combat encounters prepared per session, depending on what the group does, while we'll certainly have a few laughs, this game will have a bit of a serious tone.

About me

Cruise Line Host/Translator, 10 years in the shooto amateur circuit and a massive fan of Eberron since 3.5e, I've just got back into D&D when 5e came and immediately began DMing. I run games entirely based around the characters backgrounds and decisions, pushing the noir and intrigue themes while keeping combat innovative and fun!

From the time of writing this review, it'll have been about 4 months that I have had the utmost pleasure of having Mr. Lopes as a DM in an ongoing, weekly campaign within the Eberron setting. Now, with full disclosure out of the way - I can safely tell you that he is one of the best DMs that I have been able to work with, alongside and against as a Player. I cannot overstate the amount of creativity, understanding and intricacy that this person brings to the tabletop experience. He is a kind and respectful person, able to weave in outlandish, often fantastical ideas without straying from the core of a setting's reality. Believability, consistency and adaptability are the three core values that best represent him as a DM. He understands the tenants of good storytelling, without the need to set limits or otherwise cut-off paths for players to explore but does not forget to simply have fun while doing so. Generally speaking, the quality of his work is incredibly high. This includes his technical setup from an audio/visual perspective, his knowledge of the rules as well as how and when to apply them. He's easy to get along with, friendly and with an approachable disposition that I believe is a rare thing to find nowadays. Based on the various accounts given to me by other players within the group (some which are returning faces from an earlier campaign hosted by Mr. Lopes as well!), I can safely sing his praises and promise anyone reading this that they'll NOT be disappointed by having him as a DM.

I have only played with Kyle for a few, months, but he has run a great table in that time. He is there to makes sure everyone has fun and is respectful of everyone else. He allows the players to explore their characters as long as they aren't breaking the game. His preferred style seems to be player driven. I believe he has a few options ready and guides the campaign based on what the character's drives are. My only feedback would be in playing Eberron, he, and some of the other players are familiar with almost ALL of the available information (years of published material, errata, twitter posts, hombrew, podcasts, etc. ) about that world. It has been a little intimidating for a player new to the world. So looking at it, I would say I am intimidated by how prepared he is.

I've been playing with Kyle for over a year now, and I offer my recommendations if you are looking for a great GM. He strives to craft a living, breathing world where character choices matter and drive the narrative. To him, player choices are the biggest impact on the game. He spends extensive time on learning the setting he may be running, as well as crafting interesting encounters that fit to the setting he may be running. Expect a well prepared GM, with extensive lore and rules knowledge for whatever fandom/setting/system you may be playing with. If you sign up for a game with Kyle, you will not be disappointed with your selection.

The Kyle is fantastic for make riveting plots and integrating backstories into the main game. He is able to make the players to become incredibly invested in the story as well as allowing the Party make their own decisions and forging their own stories.

Character creation
Creating your character

We'll create each character together during our session 0, they'll be level 1 as they're enrolling into the military academy.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

Having a good grasp of 5e's mechanics and Eberron lore will be appreciated, you'll be creating your character from scratch.

What Kyle Lopes brings to the table

Being a virtual game, we'll prepare it all together online, I'll be preparing about 2-3 pages worth of content for possible usage per session.

Safety
How Kyle Lopes creates a safe table

This will be a heavy RP Sandbox, where the players will decide what the game will be about, their decisions will impact the word around them, with a good amount of combat, where going in hot and swinging wildly, might not always work.
