About the adventure

💀This is an R-rated horror story for adults. 👀Content includes violence, sexual references (consenting adults only), drug and alcohol use. 🌿🍺This is a cannabis and moderate alcohol friendly table. ⭐Zero tolerance for real life bullying, harassment, or bigotry. We have broken the grip of the Frostmaiden over Icewind Dale! Finally, summer returns to Ten-Towns. Of course that means everything is great and peaceful of course, right? Right? As the ice thaws, new opportunities take shape, old threats once forgotten are revived to stalk the lands once again, and whispers of a conspiracy emerge among the people. This campaign is a homebrew follow up to the module Icewind dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden. It is expected to last about six months and reach level 18 - 20. We are using the 2014 rules for this campaign. This campaign may be just right for you if: - You want a chance to experience high level gameplay in a familiar setting. - You enjoy unusual takes on the horror genre, such as movies like Midsommar or Cloverfield. - You enjoy a little city-building on the side of your adventure. About me

Just a big dork livin' it up in beautiful Colorado. Go Broncos!🏔️ 🕰️Running TTRPGs has been a passion of mine for over 30 years. For the past 4 years I've had the pleasure of doing it for a living. I am incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to live my dream. My favorite games are long term campaigns where we spend years getting to know each other and making our characters a part of who we are. There is nothing quite like the feeling of finishing a long, epic, campaign. I pride myself on being flexible and listening to my players. It's not my story, it's OUR story and I want you to feel as invested in it as I do. LGBTQ+ folks, people of color, those with special needs and anyone who has ever felt bullied or excluded is welcome at my table. ❓You can learn more about me at my website: https://paynefulgaming.com/ 📹Check out my Level 20 D&D 5E Gameplay Demo video at: https://youtu.be/Ufd9eqELr2E 💻Everything you need to get started in my games can be found here: https://youtu.be/_6SyrnIG9HQ

Character creation

Creating your character

TLDR version: 2014 Rules. Character Sheets on DnDBeyond.com. Tokens, maps, etc on Roll20.net. Point Buy stats, average HP, standard equipment plus one Rare, two Uncommon, and 2000 GP. 💬I am happy to meet with you in private for a "mini session zero" to discuss expectations, rules, safety, etc. It's very important that everyone feels comfortable at my table. You may create your character before your first session or wait until after you've met the group if you prefer. Check DnD Beyond or Discord for the current party level. This is a very traditional D&D setting. Classic Fantasy tropes are always appropriate, like Knights ⚔️, Wizards🧙🏻‍♂️, and Dragons 🐲. What does your character want to achieve in Icewind Dale. Are you looking to make profit in the melting ice? Are you seeking ancient relics? Or, like many of the people, are you just tired of the winter and ready to have a little fun? You will build your character at https://www.dndbeyond.com/ - once you have joined the game you'll have access to my library. If you prefer to use Roll20's character sheet, you may, but you will have to bring your own books. Use either Point Buy or Standard Array for abilities. Average HP. Standard Starting Equipment plus one Rare Magic Item, two Uncommon Magic Items, and 2000 GP to spend on mundane gear. This can include standard healing potions for 50GP each. You may use any official, published D&D 2014 Edition material. Unearthed Arcana, 3rd party material or homebrew require approval.

The current party

Level 16 as of October 22, 2025 🪓 Dorgana Shatterstone, Goliath, Path of the Giants Barbarian: The team mom, Dorgana always make sure everyone has a full belly before charging into battle. 🪽Judas, Aasimar, Oath of Vengeance Paladin, Grave Cleric: For some reason people seem to find him untrustworthy. Judas doesn't even trust himself. Three souls in one body may be the worst roommate situation ever. 🐰 Bun-Bun, Harengon, Artillerist Artificer: A Bundalorian bounty hunter with an explosive personality, Bun-Bun set out on a simple job and now has found himself embroiled in a conflict with a Goddess, Giants, Cultists, and more. 🧝‍♂️Lorin Lastleaves: Elf Conjurer Wizard: A wanderer who has recently travelled to a land of Giants and found some new friends. This is a small team, and we would welcome any class to join. In particular we could use a full Arcane caster like a Wizard or Sorcerer.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

📹Prefer a video demo? Everything you need to get set up can be found here: https://youtu.be/_6SyrnIG9HQ Your #1 priority is to have a working microphone, headset, and a stable internet connection. If you have those, I am always happy to help you through everything else. You will need access to Discord for voice chat. This can be on your computer or mobile device. Video chat is optional. You will need free accounts on dndbeyond.com and roll20.net. If possible, I recommend you also install the browser extension, "Beyond20" which will make your life much easier by letting you use DnD Beyond, Roll20, and Discord together: https://beyond20.here-for-more.info/install If you need help getting any of these set up, please contact me and I will be glad to help you out.

What ColoradoDM Brian P brings to the table

💪My Strengths: - Over 30 years experience gaming with every kind of group. - Reliable long-term games: Over 90% of my campaigns finish as scheduled. Cancelled sessions are very rare. - Flexibility and Communication so we can work together to tell a great story. - Tactical combat: I understand the rules but do not let them bog us down. - Storytelling: Sometimes the 'Rule of Cool' is how legends are made. ⚠️My Limitations: - I am not a voice actor, especially when it comes to accents. With this in mind, I work to make interactions memorable in other ways. - I can be forgetful. I keep notes to help alleviate this. I also give incentives to players who choose to help recap and take notes. You'll have access to a private Discord server with dedicated game channels and open channels to chat with other players. We will use maps and tokens via Roll20 to simulate the experience of playing around a table with friends. I will share all D&D sourcebooks via dndbeyond.com. I enhance the atmosphere with ambient music as well as image, audio, and video handouts. I do use AI to produce some of these, and they are clearly labeled as such.
