Ant carries a sense of eased professionalism that I respect and enjoy. As a Professional GM myself, my own standards are high, and he meets each one of them. He makes the table seem like the casual home games from my youth, while also maintaining everyone's fun through communication and safety. He welcomes all but protects his players from bad actors. The biggest compliment I have is for the depth and creativity of his world. I was fascinated and enraptured immediately, hungry for new scenes and experiences so I can gorge myself on more unique and intriguing lore. He also let's players expand and build with him, creating your character's one of a kind origin within his once in a lifetime worlds.
DeAngelo is a friendly GM who is always ready to hype your character, even if it means bending the rules a bit. As a Pro GM myself I have high standards, and I've played with GM's who do this in a cold, professional manner and I leave those communities fast, but playing with DeAngelo and my coterie mates felt like sitting at my FLGS or a kitchen table to pal around and tell an awesome story, which is much more my speed. He seamlessly transitions from congenial hanging out to talking business to running the game like a real live person, not a DnD Dispenser I meet with once a week. I feel good supporting him because he's a real friendly dude, I know he loves to game, cheers for his players, and will provide awesome experiences to others long after our time gaming together is done.
As a Pro GM, I have high standards for my own relaxation and entertainment. I was VERY impressed by his presentation and professionalism, and absolutely hooked by the vivid descriptions. Definitely suits my style, which favors telling awesome stories about epic players doing awesome things. I also wish to compliment his inclusiveness, and can say I genuinely learned some GMing techniques for my own tables.
"Dnd for theater kids" is one of the best summaries I've seen of this, but this doesn't mean you can't have fun if you aren't an actor. This is a role-play heavy, narrative first system where the mechanics will help you become a better role-player and a better GM. If you are looking to start out or branch into something with more modern design and a cinematic feel, don't hesitate. When your first combo attack with your ally annihilates the target in a scene of glory and your whole table goes wild, you'll know why I sent you. EDIT- After playing many sessions, it still hits. This is currently my ttrpg of choice.
