tl;dr: I HIGHLY recommend Ajna! I played in Ajna's Daggerheart Oneshot, a game set in Wildemount, and designed to introduce new players to the game system. I'd love to share my experience with you! From start to finish, Ajna was simply a joy to play with. Lot's of laughs, good vibes and a very inclusive and relaxed atmosphere. Joining Oneshots can always be nerve-wracking; meeting new people, but Ajna made it a welcoming and positive experience. I instantly felt relaxed. The game we played was set between 4-7 hours long, a generous amount of game time, which gave us all an oppertunity to go through a lot of stuff. We came to the session with ready made sheets, but Ajna ensured that everyone was on the same page with the rules by explaining concisely and simply how the system worked. They guided us through this process and into the game smoothly every step of the way. Then when it came to the game, it became immediatly obvious that Ajna had a 'player first' mentality, with a philosophy of being the players greatest fans. I felt like they were genuinely excited to hear about the characters and see them in action. The expositions were great, the story (a mystery) was compelling and homebrew. I was immediatly invested. Even when we threw a curve ball, Ajna was able to pick it up and run with it. I often struggle with Theatre of Mind combat, but Ajna was able to depcit the scene in a way I was able to easily visualise what was happening. Overall, I had a fantastic time in Ajna's game, and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for a narrative-focussed, good vibe game with someone that you KNOW will be on your side, and not out to get you. I especially recommend for anyone LGBTQAI+/Femme that is concered about finding a tbale where you'll feel comfortable. I can attest this one is for you!
Alien RPG has not only one of the BESt horror systems in the RPG space, but one of the best Sci-Fi ones. From the fantastic implementation of the Stress system, to the exploration and world designing features of the book, AlienRPG gives you every tool you need to craft, or be part of, a horrifying experience. Unless you're a colonial marine, nearly everything can kill you, and some will do it in one shot. The alien's random attack mechanics leaves less stress on GMS for "choosing" to kill players, with it being down to the Alien itself (and RNG) whether it toys with it's prey, or puts an end to the suffering instantly. I have played a number of AlienRPG games, and every time it's filled with tension and excitment. The thrill fo playing the Alien, or attempting to escape it as a player, is truly an experience seldom found in other systems. The basics itself can be taken out of the worldbuilding and applied to any kind of creature, you're not limited to the nightmares of Ridley Scott.
Trying to sum up Ikarus in a single review is like trying to store the ocean in a bottle, and could never quite reflect the joy playing in his games has brought me. I have a lot of experience with D&D and run it professionally myself, so I feel confident in being able to ascertain the worth of a GM. I ask you to believe me when I say Ikarus is one of, if not THE BEST GM I've had the pleasure of playing with. I've been part of his games for what must be about 3 years now and they're always filled with excitement, homebrew content and a dash of danger. All NPCs are vocalised, and Ikarus has a way of immersing you in the world with his tone and description. Each NPC feels like a living, breathing creature and not just stats on a page. Interactions with them are always fun, and allows for roleplay experiences often lost in most D&D games I've played in. Ikarus is no stranger to creativity, dedicating vast amounts of time to produce homebrew content; from classes & spells, to maps & monsters. Ikarus always finds a way to put a personal flair to whatever he does, and his passion shines through. He always strives to make the best game experience as he can for his players. Ikarus loves what he does, and his dedication to the craft is a rare gem in a saturated sea. He puts his players first; both in making a safe envrioment to play in, but also by being the character's biggest fan. He will challenege you, but only so that you can have a memorable victory. Overall, words can't articulate how much I recommend Ikarus. If you have the chance to be in his game, sign up now. As I said, Ikarus is a rare gem, one of the best in the business, and anyone who takes the leap will not regret it!
Liquid is a Player's friend through and through. His commitment to focussing on making Players feel epic and free to be creative is commendable. He's willing to push the boundaries of rules to help you feel awesome at what you're doing. I play in one of his Cyberpunk Red games, a system I was brand new to. He was patient as I learned and helped me understand the new mechanics and nuances of the game rules, and there's a lot. He encourages you to think outside the box, and try out new ideas that seem fun or cool. If you're new to CyberpunkRed or an experienced player looking for a GM that not only knows his stuff, but is super pationate about the game world, Liquid is your guy! Highly HIGHLY recommend!
What can I say? This was my first forte into Pathfinder2e and George was very accomodating. Whilst only a OneShot, I managed to get to experience a lot of the system, which is invaluable to me going forward. Rules were explained, I was given time to undertsand my turns, and the whole VTT experience made that very smooth. The game itself felt well-structured and George allowed us to explore a vault and seek out some treasures. We had room for roleplay and combat, and honestly packed a suprisingly large amount in only a few hours, leaving me feeling satisfied with the session itself. I'd highly recommend George to others seeking P2e games, especially those just starting out!
