Red is clearly a very experienced GM. His narration was strong, he was funny, and I could tell he knew how to run the game well. The session had good energy, and I can see why more experienced players would really enjoy his table. That said, as a newer player, I personally felt a little lost at times, especially with Foundry, initiative, and understanding my combat options. With a bigger table, it was harder to slow down and get step-by-step help, which I understand, but it did affect my experience. If you are new to D&D or online VTTs, I probably wouldn't recommend jumping into this kind of game with fewer than four players. But if you are more experienced, understand your character, and are comfortable with the platform, I think you would really enjoy this GM. table larger
This was my second-ever one-shot, and I really enjoyed it. I was nervous — very nervous — especially about learning a mechanic that was not fully regular 5e, but Shawn was more than happy to help and was very patient while teaching me how it worked. The session was fun, easy to get into, and I felt a lot more comfortable as we kept playing. I would definitely try it again. Thanks again, Shawn!
I had an amazing time. I thought it was going to be awkward at first, and it kind of was, but in a good way. That awkwardness actually helped everyone get more comfortable with each other as the session went on. Evie went above and beyond with helping us understand how to play, and she made the game feel welcoming instead of overwhelming. The fact that all five of us stayed for six hours says a lot. We had a blast, and we’re definitely willing to come back for more! PLEASE, if you're trying this for the first time like us, I really recommend Evie!!
