I really appreciate the rich atmosphere this DM brings to the table. Towns are extremely robust in details, and atmospheric music really helps sell the scene. I'm also a big fan of unexpected twists on character backstories, and this DM was not only wiling to work with me on the thematic horror elements I was interested in, he was extremely enthusiastic about delivering more. I was really intrigued by the lore and morally complicated decision making opportunities, I always love a game that involves complex character arcs. I prefer pretty gritty games, where the stakes are fairly high; having to play strategically with my resources makes the game more interesting to me, and the DM delivers both on the fun, frivolous fantasy flavor while still maintaining very realistic consequences for character choices. There will be pastries and pet shops a plenty; but the world is not entirely parties and pet shops, and I love that the setting allows for both seriousness and silliness.
