John is a very patient gamemaster, and did a stellar job of introducing the different mechanics, scenes in the Pendragon L2P game I played. As so many others have mentioned, he is so skilled at teaching systems whilst making sure the table remains comfortable and included. Highly recommend if you want to try out niche rpg systems and want a positive environment to play with!

Every session, paid or not, represents time set aside by both the GM and the players, so expectations around basic onboarding and session flow matter. So disappointing is putting it lightly when I attended Lucas' Hunter the Reckoning game. Instesd of what should be a session 0 for a short campaign, 3 players were dropped into the setting with minimal context, no character hooks tied to our hunter identities, and only brief physical descriptions requested. There was also no introduction to the system and setting which made it difficult to engage meaningfully with the world. Shortly after character introduction, we found ourselves having to roll 5 times in 5 minutes to gather what was happening in the game. Failed rolls frequently resulted in complete information blocks rather than alternative leads. It felt as if we were rolling for the sake of rolling. When the party experienced in-character decision paralysis, there was little narrative guidance to help move the story forward. Notably, we only meaningfully interacted with a NPC around the 3rd hour, and key plot context only became clear near the end of the session. This made pacing feel slow and somewhat opaque. Overall, the concept had potential, but the lack of session framing, onboarding, and adaptive storytelling made it difficult to stay immersed. A fail forward investigation would strongly improve the experience.

Jamie is an exceptional DM! She took the time to walk me through Foundry VTT before Session 1, helped me with character creation, and answered every question I had about party roles and gameplay. Her adventures are also wonderfully paced, keeping the action, roleplay, and exploration flowing naturally once the campaign kicked off. Her patience and clarity is making the campaign genuinely enjoyable, and it shows how much care she puts into her players’ experience.

Josh is a very experienced Gamemaster who is comfortable with telling an engaging story over the table, all whilst engaging us with materials on foundry etc. The choice of soundtracks for encounters were great as well; helped with immersion.
