About Fried Dice (Josh)

Hey there, adventurer! If you’re looking for an epic adventure to go on, for something intriguing to unravel, or for scary beasties to eat your character, you’ll find something at my table that is up your alley. I'm Josh (he/him), better known on the internet as Fried Dice. You might've seen me stream my Southeast Asian inspired games on Twitch, or if you live in little red dot called Singapore, you might've played in my games in-person! I’ve been running games professionally for over-half a decade now, and have taught hundreds of new players, shared tables with long-time veterans, and of course everyone else in between. 🍚Community Having run games on twitch, I’ve cultivated a community of TTRPG gamers across the globe. All varieties of experiences, backgrounds, and upbringings have come together and cultivate a safe and welcoming space. 🎲Experience I've ran over 20 campaigns to completion, both homebrew and pre-published campaigns. I've taught hundreds of people how to play D&D from running dozens of Learn to Plays. I primarily run online games on a Foundry, with both animated and static maps. I've run over 100+ online sessions, even more in-person games, encompassing one-shots, mini-arcs, and over 20 campaigns to completion. I’m always looking to learn new TTRPG systems and exploring new ideas. I would love to run games where on top of having fun, everyone grows a little. 🫚Fun and Spice I've been described as an Enabler Game Master by my players, and that fits the bill! I'm all about figuring out what the party wants to do, and making sure it happens. Wanna start a fantasy fast food chain? Let's get there. Want to turn into a dragon? We'll have to work hard for it, but it's not impossible! Do you want to feel like Frodo and the fellowship from Lord of the Rings? Let's make that happen. If all this sounds right up your street, the come by, and let’s have an amazing and memorable adventure together. Bring along a good attitude and respect for the fellow human, and you’ll find yourself right at home. ✨ CURRENTLY AVAILABLE for online games across multiple time zones

I got started GMing...

when I didn't know anyone else who played, and ran games for my 4 siblings till I got the hang of it!

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Enabler, Escalator, and Motivator!

How Fried Dice (Josh) runs games

🥢Roleplay and Combat I am an enabler GM that loves to do voices (and using voice modulators), build backstories that interlock with each other, and I love rewarding players for thinking out of the box and pushing in a unique direction to develop not only their character, but the entire party and plot forward. I tend to have challenging combat, but only so that the reward of winning feels even more amazing. That being said, I do modulate difficulty based on player experience and preference. Not everybody likes to die vicariously, and some people totally live for it – we’ll figure this out together during session 0. 🍴Problem Solving and Dilemmas I also enjoy creating scenarios and situations that feel like the choice is between a rock and a hard place; I love it more when players find their way out from these two choices. In the end, I want players to have the experience of achieving goals and discovering new things and have stories that we can tell future generations of gamers. 📦Resources Primarily using Foundry VTT via Forge, your character sheets are accessible 24/7, and I have a lot of third-party materials available there as well. I’m also an avid homebrewer, having made subclasses and classes on DMsGuild. This means that if we haven’t found what exactly your character needs to exist, let’s make something together! 💾Rules and Safety Tools We’re all here to have a great time, and the rules are meant to facilitate the story we’re making together. One of the greatest of these rules is the rule of cool – rules can be bent to help the party feel epic, and hence make the story epic-er. All of this of course happens within the boundaries of what people feel safe and comfortable with. Through the use of safety tools lie Lines and Veils, X card, and Aftercare, as a community we can ensure that our table always feels secure, welcome and safe. This is a great place for us to push boundaries of course, but always with the security that we can dial things back to a safe space whenever we need to. No bigotry towards other players is tolerated, as we are all here to collaborate and have a good time.

Rules are...

a means to facilitate the story. If they don't facilitate, we adjust the rules as we need to or break them entirely.

When it comes to voices

I practice when I can, and use voice mods if I can't!

Fried Dice (Josh)'s ideal table

💯What’s perfect? My ideal table is filled with people who are excited to make a story and feel the emotions in the game. Just enough excitement for crunch for tactical games, but also the tension of having to make difficult choices in and out of combat. I love players who are upfront and honest about the types of games they would like to play. This allows us as individuals to put forward clearly if we are in the space we want to be, what we need to get there, and if it simply isn’t a good fit at the moment. As an enabler GM, I want to enable the players to escalate what excites them the most. Heavy roleplay, nail biting combat, and of course celebrating each other’s wins. Most of all, a perfect table is filled with people who are welcoming and encouraging. Always prefer an inclusive table. I would love the table of strangers to become close friends, and create tales that we’ll be telling for ages.
