I played a one-shot that Robert ran. It was home-brewed and based on the game Heroquest. The one-shot consisted pretty much entirely of combat, but unfortunately the combats weren't very challenging or varied. There was no narrative description, either of the environment or the combats, just, "17; take 6 damage. 13, you miss." Etc. I was testing out a character build, so I enjoyed the opportunity to run lots of combat quickly, but there was no mystery, suspense, or even excitement to the combats. There were no NPCs or exploration encounters like puzzles, environmental hazards, or even a locked chest. There were very few opportunities to use skills. That said, Robert was welcoming and helped troubleshoot the inevitable Roll20 issues (an R20 issue, not a Robert issue). He ran the game smoothly, and everyone got along. I enjoyed myself, but wish I had a better idea of what the session would entail. It was essentially a basic combat simulator, which for $10 isn't a bad deal.
I enjoyed playing the one-shot I did with Marco! He was helpful and responsive in the hours leading up to the game. He was fair and leaned into players doing their thing and trying things that aren't explicitly in the rules. He used music to set the mood and had maps prepared for each encounter that helped to set the scene.
I had a great time playing with Casey! He does great voices, had top-notch maps, and used sound in a way that added a lot to the atmosphere. I love how thoughtful he was about adding bonuses and penalties to various things in a way that reflected the circumstances of our adventure. Whenever I had a question about the way something went down in a session, he responded in a timely and fair way. I highly recommend joining a campaign with him.
I played in a one-shot with Sean. He used one from a new sourcebook and made it so I could try out a new subclass and there were several new monsters and spells included as well, which was cool. He was very professional, organized, and prepared. He handled the game well, including when one player was being strikingly rude about a rule interpretation. I had fun and would recommend him to other players!
