About me
Returning to RPGs after a long hiatus. My background is mainly from D&D, along with a smattering of themes such as superheroes, spies, and urban fantasy. Interested in more narrative-driven stories although I'll need to flex those skills again to get back up to speed.

BlackStrum creates an engaging, enjoyable roleplay experience. His posts are well-written, setting the scenes and moving the story along at a good pace. The narrative takes priority over the dice, but when appropriate, he brings that layer of chance into the story as seamlessly as possible. He does a great job of providing information only to the players who uncover or experience it. This keeps the mystery strong for everybody and lets the players share information that they learn as part of the story.
If you're considering joining a game run by KingTasty, I would encourage you to do it. I first found KingTasty (KT going forward!) while looking to try one of the multitude of games on my 'to play' list... in this case, I decided to give Masks: A New Generation a try. I'm happy I did. KT didn't just go with the out-of-the-box campaign idea... he's come up with a twist on the young-hero trope that adds some extra drama. He readily takes cues from the players with both story pacing and content. He'll move the story along without making anything feel rushed and follows a 'story first, dice second' approach, which works extremely well for the Play by Post format we are using. That's not to say that the dice aren't needed for the big or important things, just that if it fits best for the story, then some things don't need the dice to agree. I've enjoyed the atmosphere and experience from the Masks game that I dove in on a second game with KT....a Cyberpunk RED game, which was already a good number of sessions into the story. Sometimes that can be difficult, but KT has made it work well. Instead of just dropping me into the middle of the action, he cultivated a detailed prologue to bring me in and help me get used to the system (which is good since it is my first CPR game). That takes work, running what was certainly a one-on-one scene for a period of time while still keeping the main story moving. Simply put, itis clear that KT enjoys building a fun, collaborative story. So join one of his games and enjoy the process.
I took part in a month-long bespoke Vampire the Masquerade v5 Play By Post (PBP) campaign and had an excellent time. Jake made consistently well-written posts that moved the story forward in interesting and sometimes unexpected ways while still leaving my character with ultimate control of his destiny. Jake welcomes feedback and suggestions. He checked in multiple times with me over the month just to be sure I was happy with how the story was going....and to share how he was enjoying my part of the story development. It was obvious that he wants to create a shared narrative experience that all participants are fully engaged in and enjoying. He is certainly a story first, dice second type of ST which fits very well with my style of play. I look forward to having Jake as a Storyteller again.
