Voices. Enigmaze is one of the relatively rare GMs who does role play with distinct voices. That's fun. And they let the players role play at a leisurely pace. That's fun too. We really enjoyed the one shot we played. The flip side is, if you were looking for a GM that moves the story along briskly, you will need to chill out and relax a bit. This is not a criticism. I prefer to let things ebb and flow and build organically. I'm not on a fetch quest. I'm here to role play and let the stories evolve at their own pace. I'm not in a rush to get through the plot or get to a boss battle. I'm all about the journey.
Tyler is what a professional GM should be. Keeps the players immersed in the world and their characters. Listens to what each character is trying to do and helps make that real in the game world. Keeps the action moving, with subtle nudges, to manage pacing in a way that never flags. He knows the lore, the game mechanics, the world in which the game is set, in a way that makes it engrossing, entertaining, and (without didacticism) even a little informative or (gasp) educational. You can, of course, ignore his description of a historically accurate meal. He's not wasting time on such details. But if you take a couple seconds to picture it, it is the kind of detail that really helps ground the play in its setting. From a technology standpoint, Tyler is on top of his game. His audio is clear, and his VTT is reliable. He manages the table well, takes table safety seriously including things like lines and veils, and perhaps most important, HE LOVES GAMES and PLAYING GAMES. That kins of enthusiasm for the endeavor really comes through in the vibes he creates. So, any downsides? Well, if you are looking for a voice actor who does unique, broad first person accents and vocal performances for every NPC, that is not Tyler's style. I don't see that as a problem, but in the interest of covering all aspects of play styles out there, I figure I should mention that. Anyway, if I could give him six stars, I would, because he is at least one star better than most five star GM's on StartPlaying.
Friendly GM, likes to get folks playing, loves the hobby, knows the game and settings. Best audio setup of just about any GM I have played with online. You'd be surprised how crappy some GM's microphones are - crackly, cheap, or poorly setup, sometimes to the point of not being able to hear everything they say. (This is particularly frustrating because a good mic can be acquired for $25.) Isaac, on the other hand, has a great audio setup. Isaac's voice is as clear as a radio DJ, easy to hear, very professional.
Played a Delta Green one shot with Casey. There aren't nearly enough non D&D type games on Start Playing. Grateful for GM's that are willing to run one shots in less popular systems, and that welcome players who are new to the system. Casey was very welcoming, and was able to explain the rules to new players to the system. (Unfortunately, Casey's microphone was having trouble, so we lost some of Casey's narration.)
