I first played in one of John’s The One Rings 2e Moria games. The other player wasn’t a fan of the system and so that campaign was somewhat short-lived. But I had experienced enough to recognize John as a great GM, and seek him out for campaigns in Pendragon (new system to me, kind of a rite of passage to try it) and now Vaesen. Some of the reasons why: —Solid storytelling chops. —Sincere and generous with time and attention to player questions and vulnerabilities. —Ability to parse complicated systems. —Openness and Enthusiasm run with whatever improv curveballs come up in session. —Wisdom to know when to choose the Rule of Cool.
Bleak is a top notch GM, creates a really enjoyable experience. He’s great at helping players build synergy in RP and at giving evocative, thematic descriptions. I plan to to play at his table again one day, not a matter of if, but when. Highly recommended.
Public Access one shot, my first CfB. Sonder wove into being a beautiful, haunting game experience, drawing from each player the kind of narrative thematic depth that's so rare, but creates long lasting memories and engenders real emotion at the table. Clear and well organized rules explanation made things run just super smooth.
Blake is a fantastic GM/Keeper. Highly recommended for his personable manner, clear communication, and fantastic descriptions. Totally worth it. Hate having to leave a really freaking cool campaign, but life has other plans for me that night, unfortunately. Will totally be on the lookout for another opportunity to play at his table, even for just a one shot.
Dylan has an obvious deep love and understanding of the LOTR lore, and how the One Ring system mechanics reinforce that. SUPER skilled at: weaving lore into a game session, setting scenes, voicing NPCs, and foreshadowing. He also brings a sense of fairness to players and fidelity to the rules. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for the occasional one shot when scheduling works out!
