It's winter and our characters are on a airplane to an exciting archaeological dig, when we feel the plane start to slow to a stop, in mid air. The lights begin to slowly flicker and die, people's electronics begin to pop and fry. Whispers of otherworldly voices flit through the cabin trailing luminous ethereal rifts in space and time, as a strange figure glowing with the light between the stars materializes at the back of the plane. Dark tendrils snake out from it, reaching for those near by as we hear a dissonant scream into our heads "You are not welcome here". A jolt, and reality begins to shift and bend. The plane begins to fall apart, and we fall to the ocean below. We awake washed up on an island, the plane a twisted wreckage of non-Euclidean shapes near by. Echoes of those voices still lingering in our mind, our bodies unharmed, but now irrevocably marked in inky black spirals where the tendrils touched us. Freezing an with only the supplies of a single suitcase, we spy the only salvation near to us. What appears to be a weathered mansion sticking out over the trees of a forbidding forest. Thus began our journey with Souldiver.
Hear what the people are saying about this story! "Friendly locals! Great scenery! Damsels in distress!" "10/10 - Would almost burn down the forest again!" "Visited the Ashvodel Ruins and all I got was this lousy hobgoblin ambush." "Ow! My head!" "Where am I? Who are you? Why are you writing down what I'm saying?" "Please send help! We are being held against our will and I fear for our lives!" "Ignore those last messages! They're doing fine! This place is great! You should come on over! Complementary sword with every visit!"
