About me

Howdy! My games tend towards the sandbox, do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law and all that. I'm a big believer in the power of narrative. The best stories are always about ideas more than plots. That's not to say that it's all arthouse allegory, but the plot should be about more than a list of bad guys to thwart and loot to steal. (Except, of course, when that's the story being told. Context is king.) If you show up for my games expect a certain amount of history, satire, and the odd pop culture reference in the mix. I tend towards horror and comedy, as I find they complement each other well, but again, depends on the game. I also offer personalized one-shots for players that miss a game- you aren't on auto-follow, you're off doing things. Need to miss a game? Don't worry, I got you. (DISCLAIMER: In D&D based games, this may involve trips to Ravenloft, play at your own risk. Scheduling difficulties may interfere with this offer, but my schedule is largely open.) Bigtime into Butlerian theology- "Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind." No AI-generated anything 'round these parts. Years of Blood Bowl have turned me against elfs. Play at your own risk. You can call me "Jeremy" if you really need to.

GM style

I tend towards narrative-focused play, with combats and action punctuating the story instead of replacing it. I've always been noted for the quality of my NPCs- I enjoy doing voices, and nobody you interact with should be devoid of motivations, hopes, dreams, hobbies, perhaps a goldfish somewhere... I do not care for railroads, and my games emphasize player freedom without getting so sandbox-y that everyone loses focus. Most important, all of this is supposed to be fun. Know that Rule of Cool is always in mind but not necessarily play, and that I've never been noted for being an overly serious person. Of course, those comic beats do a lot to emphasize the drama, so... I love helping new players get into the hobby, so if you're nervous about playing, know that my table is a safe harbor.
