If you’re looking for a Daggerheart GM who truly elevates the experience, Suann is exceptional. They have an incredible ability to turn even the harshest dice rolls into meaningful opportunities for creativity. Rather than letting bad RNG stall momentum, they transform it into story. Every session feels collaborative, immersive, and alive—and beyond being an absolute blast to play, their table is a masterclass in how to draw players deeper into the world. Be it crafting an ominous countdown clock for the two creature eggs my character scavenged (Who doesn't want their own pet giant ghost scorpion?) or creating flavor items on the fly in response to players individual creativity. Stellar GM across the board.

Pros -Strong at creating vivid, engaging scenes through theater of the mind. -Foundry setup is intuitive and well-tailored to the Daggerheart system. -Very accommodating during Session 0, especially regarding void material and homebrew choices. -The custom world and source document are clearly a labor of love, with a lot of care and effort put into them. Cons -About an hour and a half into Session 1, my character had not yet been referenced or introduced. This last point stood out particularly because I had previously expressed concern about the table size being six players, given that Daggerheart is designed with five in mind. While I chose to proceed with Hope and see how the GM would manage the larger group, the delay in bringing every character into the narrative made it clear that player spotlight and onboarding can become strained at that scale.

Pros Strong Narrative Immersion: From the very beginning, the introduction to Drakkenheim was rich with lore and delivered with vivid, atmospheric description. Combined with excellent visual aids and scene-setting, it was easy to feel drawn into the desolate, haunting world. Exceptional Visual Presentation: The use of maps, images, and other visual tools greatly enhanced immersion and helped the world feel alive and tangible. Innovative Homebrew Systems: The custom crafting system added depth and excitement to the game, improving upon the standard 5e/2024 rules in a way that felt engaging and unique. Cons Onboarding During Sessions: New player onboarding (beyond basic introductions) often occurred during the regular session, causing technical setup to eat into game time rather than being handled beforehand. (Our group had 5 new additions before my departure). Session Length and Timing: Occasional late starts weren’t balanced by extending the end time, resulting in closer to 2.5 hours of gameplay rather than the intended 3. Adversarial GM Tone at Times: Several aspects of the GMing style felt more adversarial than collaborative, including: Leaving occasional aspects of party-management and conflict-resolution duties to the players without GM support. Hidden rolls for monsters, reducing transparency. Lack of awarding GM inspiration or providing structured feedback (e.g., stars and wishes). (Inspiration was given twice over 17 sessions across 4-5 players, GM still asks if we want to use it on a save now an then none the less). Appearing to take a bit too much enjoyment when things went poorly for the party—from being able to hear the smile on their face to them laughing outright as player/party misfortune.
