About me
Hi, I'm Joe! I'm a 30-something guy living in the PNW. My love of TTRPGs started in undergrad, where I began my adventures with DnD 3.5e. Now, I've expanded outwards and played all sorts of systems. I'm a studious learner of TTRPG systems and characters and tend to pick up rules pretty quickly. I usually play characters that identify as he/him and as far as roles go, I really prefer to fill whatever the party might need. However, if everyone's starting from 0 and decisions need to be made, I definitely enjoy playing support-oriented people. I wanna help my party members get the big numbers and do massive damage! Aside from combat and mechanics effectiveness, I also highly prioritize roleplay. I went to school for acting and while I occasionally do voice acting, TTRPGs have been my major creative outlet for all the things I studied way back then. I try to be as friendly and open as possible and am reachable through Discord almost every single day. Thank you for your time and hope you're having a wonderful day! :) - Joe

My time with SugarButch has been a total, complete joy! I took a very, very big swing in our Session 0 and asked if my character could have a very close relationship with an important NPC and she not only approved it, but she's turned what could've been a simple plotline into something charming and earnest and I'm so curious about where it'll end up! One of SugarButch's core strengths lies in her ability to create complex, compelling characters for players to work off of. Each NPC she's introduced has been fascinating, hilarious, badass, or a mix of all three! A few of our sessions have been pretty role-play heavy and with SugarButch's acting chops, the hours fly by as we talk with NPCs and she gently guides us into interacting with each other, as well. Outside of the role-play heavy sessions, combat is fast-paced, exciting, and somehow, SugarButch always finds a way to make the fighting reveal something about the characters involved. No slogging through 3-hr long wet noodle fights where you clock out whenever it's not your turn. Something is always happening, building up in the background, or leaving foreshadowing breadcrumbs in its wake. Another thing I really appreciate and find comforting is how forward SugarButch is with her LGBTQIA+ identity. As someone who is also part of the community, there's always a slight fear when I sign up for games that don't go out of their way to say that they're friendly to people with those identities. I get scared of playing characters certain ways because I'm not sure how they'll be received. But with how out and proud SugarButch is, it really inspired me to be more open and vulnerable with my own identity. And I gotta tell you, that feeling is immeasurable and so incredibly valuable. Overall, I'm so, so happy I stumbled across SugarButch's games. I go into each session so excited for what we'll get up to and knowing that the entire time, I'll be feeling safe, fulfilled, and stable doing it. I'd recommend her to everyone I know who's looking for a GM.
Xan is an incredible GM who collaborates with their players to build the most narratively satisfying story for everyone. They have great voices that add life and vibrancy to their characters, they instinctively know when to ramp up drama and comedy in relationship to each other to maximize the effects of both, and they also surprise and delight with twists and turns in the storyline. All of this while steadfastly making sure that every single person at the table is feeling safe and supported. Xan is one of my favorite GMs I've ever had and I feel so lucky to have been able to play with them.
