I played in Joseph's Learn to Play for Vampire the Masquerade (5th edition) and I had a good time. Joseph's descriptions were top notch, I still remember how he described the underlying stench of decay and how it felt to our newly risen vampires (licks), it felt so appropriate and evocative! Despite some technical difficulties, we immediately saw that he had put effort in structuring this Learn to Play in a fashion that allowed it to flow smoothly and with a clear focus on learning our abilities/rules as we went. My only advice is to make sure to watch the clock as we did go quite a bit overboard but it's something that easily addressed and does not take away from what we all saw to be a quality GM!

Golvin - One-Shot GM

I played in Golvin's "Learn to Play" for the Cosmere RPG and it was probably the worst experience I have had on the platform so far. - Golvin didn't seem to really know the rules, which is a non-starter for a Learn to Play. - He repeatedly interrupted all players whether they were in the middle of asking him a question or trying to RP to salvage what we could of the session. He even baited with, "Go ahead and roleplay here a bit if you want but..." (changes the scene with aggressive NPCs that require interacting). Instead of listening, he was clearly thinking of what he wanted to say in response to a question, thereby interrupting us before we were fully done speaking. - He had constant "Squirrel!" moments where he would go 180 on whatever he was talking about to talk about something else, not finishing the first subject, which often were relevant to us trying to learn the rules. I come out of this game frustrated that the only learning I did was from the players that had to steer the ship, rather than the GM that was running a Learn to Play.

Tried the Alice is Missing game with Petrichor, she made the experience very entertaining. I did not know what to expect when I joined but I'm glad I tried! I could tell that they care a lot about the safety and experience of everyone at the table and she made sure we were all having fun and were alright after what can be a heavy experience. An overall great experience!

I've been blessed to play with GM Solar for over 6 years now, I can confidently say he's an exceptional game master and an overall amazing person to have in your life. His storytelling is nothing short of amazing, weaving intricate, plot-driven narratives that captivate and inspire. The life he breathes into NPCs is dazzling, with distinctive voices and mannerisms that make each character unforgettable. GM Solar is always attentive to players, encouraging creativity and ensuring everyone feels involved. His games are truly immersive, with the world dynamically responding to player actions and decisions. He masterfully incorporates the various modes of play, jumping from intense social roleplay to intricate investigations or thrilling combat. He excels at crafting a cinematic atmosphere and he creates a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable and heard. I've personally seen him take the time to spotlight each character, allowing for their personal stories to develop quite satisfyingly and I cannot get enough. If you're looking for a game master who combines serious, high-stakes storytelling with moments of humor, creating a balanced and engaging experience, look no further. GM Solar not only runs dynamic and memorable games but also fosters a fun and inclusive atmosphere, making him a perfect guide for both seasoned adventurers and new players discovering the joys of TTRPGs and the Pathfinder 2e system. Playing with him has been a highlight of my gaming experience, and I highly recommend GM Solar to anyone seeking an immersive, exciting, and deeply rewarding adventure.

Update: I have now completed my third campaign with Nyx, I'm in two more, and I cannot recommend them enough. I initially joined Nyx's table a few months ago but found that I didn't quite fit with the group at that time. Nyx handled the situation with professionalism and grace, inviting me to return once the group dynamics changed. What drew me back was the incredible passion Nyx demonstrated in their worldbuilding and their genuine commitment to ensuring every player has an enjoyable experience. Returning was the best decision I've made on StartPlaying. I've been consistently impressed by Nyx's talent for integrating character backstories into the overarching narrative, their meticulous attention to detail, and their openness to collaborating with players, even when faced with the most unconventional ideas. In summary, I highly recommend Nyx's games. They are exceptionally welcoming, knowledgeable, and dedicated to both their story and the characters within it.
