I became a GM because

My reason for becoming a GM is rooted in a lifelong love of stories. Growing up, I lived hundreds of lives in the pages of books, but eventually, reading wasn't enough; I needed to create. I GM to spread that passion and belief in the power of narrative.

People are always surprised when I tell them

Two points of note here. I was a ballroom dance instructor, who taught ballroom, latin and swing dancing... And... I was on national television for medieval combat.

How DM Noctem runs games

I GM because I have a deep, abiding love for a good story, and the best stories are always built collaboratively with the players. My style is fluid, adaptive, and I'm at my best when I have to think on my toes to respond to your brilliant, unexpected choices. I aim for a vibrant middle ground between true sandbox freedom and structured plot. While I will always work to move the overarching narrative forward, the impetus and direction always come from the players. What you can expect at my table: *Cinematic Combat: I love to describe scenes! Expect good, epic combat that is fully visualized and celebrated. I want every player to truly see the blow landing, the spell exploding, and the heroism unfolding. *Total Immersion: My main goal is to transport you. I use a dedicated toolkit of voices, mannerisms, sound effects, music, pictures, and videos to bring the world and its characters to life. *Your Safety is Paramount: Above all else, my table is a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space. This is a hard rule. Roleplaying a difficult character is fine, but any personal attacks or harmful behavior directed at another player will be met with harsh retribution. I do not tolerate anything that can truly harm one of my players. Ready to step into the legend? Let's make an unforgettable tale!

Discussing them with the table. Group cohesion is important to me, and a ruling will affect everyone. If the table is split on the issue, i will be the voice of decision, but I want to make sure everyone is involved in as much of the game as they wish.

Important, but mostly more like guidelines. I have found that the key to any successful game is fun, and sometimes the rules as written get in the way of that. Have an awesome way to take down that boss, even if it doesn't exactly work in RAW terms? We will make it work. Let's get Epic!

When it comes to voices

I'm all in! I believe voices and accents add to immersion, and use them prolifically. Will I have a unique voice and accent for every single NPC you meet? Not at all, but I will strive to make sure the sound and feel of every important person, (At the very least), is singular.

I think metagaming...

Is going to happen to some extent. I personally have been playing games for decades, and knowledge sticks with you, but keeping it to a minimum is key to a fun, immersive game.
