I've played in several one-shots with Tyger so far, and she's absolutely incredible. She's got a really good knack for choosing super interesting systems and making them absolutely come to life. I can always tell she has a lot of passion for what she runs. Her games are very well-paced, vibrant, and easy to lose yourself in. I have in fact cried real tears during one of the one-shots. Can't wait to see what she'll do to me in a campaign <3 1000/10
I played in a one-shot for Mausritter and had an amazing time! I’d only read the pdf for the game about a month ago, and they were awesome about explaining everything we needed to know. The story was a lot of fun, with some tidbits of immersion that reminded us we were playing as mice in a strange world. They did some great voices and had a cool voice effect, as well as some music that really helped set the mood. They rolled with a lot of player creativity and helped it work with the story, which is always great in a GM. Overall, I had a great time playing this! Outside of the game, they are also super interactive on discord and is just a great person all-around. I hope I get to join in something more long-term of theirs in the future!
I got to play in two of Seavale's one-shots, and it's clear that he loves the gamelines and settings. He had a great cast of NPCs we got to interact with in-game and some cool plot that seems like it would be fun to play out in a full campaign. Additionally, out of game, he was very on top of answering any questions we had, offering to help explain things we didn't understand, and is overall very friendly.
I had the opportunity to play a one-shot for Five Torches Deep with Oscar, and it was such a great experience! Super beginner-friendly from character creation to taking down the big bad, which was great as I had forgotten to read the pdf. He was patient in explaining the rules, had a fun map to walk around and explore, and a cool puzzle incorporated into the adventure. Our group had a blast and I was crying from laughter on more than one occasion. RIP Uncle Thaddeus, let the record show we tried lol
Dean is a wonderful GM with games that are full of intense adventure, detailed settings, and involved roleplay. He puts a lot of care and effort into his games, and it really shines through. I've played in several of his games from start to finish over a few years. If there's one thing I can say about them, it's that between player goals and his reactive settings, there's always an answer to "So, what's the group doing today?" He has a talent for taking ideas and running with them, seamlessly incorporating them into the game as if it had been the plan all along. In-character decisions have rewards and consequences, making it feel like you're actively a part of the story that's being told. His ability to add to and build off of plot points means that campaigns can continue for a nice length of time. Character arcs can form and be resolved, the spotlight shifts to everyone in the group, and it all feels very cathartic. I have cried real tears over game events because of how well he incorporates different emotions into his scenes. I also like to judge people by the people they hang out with, and Dean's games are a great place to make lasting friends. Even though I can't stay up for them, there's usually people still hanging out after games and lots of chatter in the text chat through the week. Games are filled with laughter and other emotional reactions from players as things are revealed. I hear stories about his other games from people when we're talking. He fosters a really good community with his player base. TLDR, Dean's a great guy with amazing games. If you like a nice mix of action, adventure, and emotional roleplay, this is the GM for you.
