About Oscar C.
Hello, my name is Oscar and I am a game designer and active GM! I hope to GM a wide variety of games for an equally wide variety of people so that I can experience more perspectives on TTRPG's. I like the strange and the niche and want to bring unique TTRPG experiences to life! I've been a GM since 2017 and in that time I have run a number of different types of game. From galaxy spanning space adventures to gritty and cruel low fantasy I can run a variety of different tones and settings. I tend towards more combat but I am just as happy to run more story and role-play focused games. I'm not overly attached to any one system, and if I don't already know it I'm happy to learn it. I've actively run Exalted, Lancer, Crowns, Five Torches Deep, and Shadow of the Demon Lord as well as familiarized myself with Eclipse Phase, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e, Chronicles of Darkness, Pathfinder 2e, and Cyberpunk RED

My favorite system of all Time is
Eclipse Phase, hands down. Sci-fi horror where characters are immortal is a great idea and the setting is ripe for all kinds of crazy stories.
I became a GM because
I wasn't having a ton of fun playing the campaign I was in and wanted to know what it was like on the other side of the screen. Turns out I just prefer GMing 90% of the time.
My favorite books are
The Messenger by Franz Kafka, The Eragorn novels, and The Locked Tomb Series
How Oscar C. runs games
I enjoy exploration, the strange and unusual, clever players in both roleplay and combat, tactical combat, and a healthy dose of roleplay.

My games focus on...
The lives of the characters. Their stories are what we're here to see, not some predestined tale of heroes standing against great evil.
My favorite trope is...
The anti-climax. It's a tough one to make satisfying, but when it works well it can set up some amazing moments!
Rules are...
What we agree they are for the most fun at the table.
Oscar C.'s ideal table
I like a group that's laughing and joking in between moments. It's true that the story being told is important and a lot of what we're here to see, but a table where the players are having fun together is the most fun to run for and be at.

I love it when a player
Laughs as they make a justified and stupid in character choice they know better than to do out of character.
I think min/maxing...
Is fine as long as the game is designed for it. High fantasy adventures benefit from min/maxing while horror games don't.
I think it's a red flag when players...
Pick another player at the table to be "their enemy" without the other player being down for it. It tends to get passive aggressive and ruin the vibe.
