About Stephen

I’m a storyteller, educator, and TTRPG designer who brings structure, energy, and clarity to the table. With 15 years as a professional performer and 8+ years coaching and teaching, I know how to run a game with strong pacing, expressive NPCs, and clean, confident decision-making. I’ve GM’d a wide range of systems including D&D 5e, Obojima, Kids on Brooms, and several of my own homebrew settings like Shattered Constellation, Atlo Academy, and Hex at the High Mesa. I also run solo campaigns, which gives me a sharp understanding of mechanics, encounter flow, and narrative pressure. My GM style is direct, player-focused, and fail-forward. I keep the story moving, make rulings that are consistent and fair, and build encounters and mysteries that react to player choices. You don’t need to be an actor or rules expert to have a great time at my table — I create space for every type of player, from roleplay-heavy to tactical. If you want a game with clear stakes, memorable NPCs, grounded worldbuilding, and choices that matter, I’m your GM.

How Stephen runs games

My games center on player agency, clear stakes, and steady forward momentum. You’ll always know what matters in a scene, what your choices affect, and how the world reacts to your decisions. I don’t run railroads; I build stories that shift because of you, not in spite of you. Roleplay at my table is grounded and approachable. I bring expressive NPCs and strong atmosphere, but you don’t need to be a performer to participate. I meet every player at their comfort level and give you space to shape your character’s voice and arc in your own way. Combat is purposeful and tactical without slowing the session down. Every encounter exists for a reason—advancing the plot, escalating tension, or challenging your strategy. You can expect fights that feel meaningful rather than random obstacles. I use a fail-forward approach so the story never stalls. Bad rolls create twists, not dead ends. Exploration, investigation, and problem-solving all have structure and clarity, so you’re never guessing what you’re “supposed” to do next. If you want a game that’s reactive, story-driven, atmospheric, and run with clear adjudication and strong pacing, you’ll feel right at home. My goal is simple: deliver sessions where you stay immersed, your choices matter, and the table leaves with moments worth talking about long after the game ends.

Stephen's ideal table

My table is all about shared storytelling and having fun together. I love players who are curious about stepping into the shoes of a character that isn’t just themselves, exploring their personality, their choices, and how they grow over time. You don’t have to be an expert role-player—just willing to try things, laugh at mistakes, and enjoy the journey. The vibe at my table is supportive, collaborative, and lighthearted. We make space for everyone. Sometimes one character will be in the spotlight and sometimes another will shine, and that’s exactly how it should be. If you enjoy real back-and-forth roleplay and conversation, instead of one person talking endlessly, you’ll fit right in. Players who do best here like working together, sharing the story, and letting others have “main character moments” too. If you’re excited to help build a fantasy story with friends, lift each other up, and have fun along the way, you’ll be very welcome at my table.
