About Empyrean GM

I am an experienced Game Master with over two decades of tabletop roleplaying experience and more than a decade of regular GMing. I have run games for a wide range of groups, from brand-new players to veteran “forever GMs,” across many different tones, genres, and campaign styles. My focus as a GM is on delivering engaging, well-paced sessions that feel immersive, fair, and fun. I enjoy building worlds, crafting memorable scenes, and helping players bring their characters to life through meaningful choices and consequences. Every game I run is designed to be a complete experience, whether it’s a one-shot, short arc, or long-term campaign. I strive to create a welcoming, inclusive table where players feel comfortable exploring their characters, collaborating with the group, and investing in the story. My goal is simple: run great games that players look forward to every session.

I became a GM because

I wanted to build worlds, shape legends, and create stories where player choices echo beyond a single roll of the dice. Behind the screen, I found the freedom to craft danger, wonder, and triumph — and to turn a table of players into heroes whose stories matter.

I got started GMing...

after years of playing and running small side games between our group’s primary campaigns. When I became the most senior player at my table, I finally got my chance to run a game and let some of the worlds and stories living in my head escape onto the table.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

the Mist Engine for its infinite story potential, D&D 3.5 because there are still way too many class options I haven’t touched, and Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition, so I can boldly go exploring space while very much stranded on an island.

How Empyrean GM runs games

I run balanced games that blend roleplay, exploration, and combat, adapting the focus based on the group and the story being told. I am a strong believer that tabletop RPGs work best as collaborative storytelling experiences, where player choices actively shape the narrative. Storytelling is my primary strength as a GM. I enjoy crafting scenes with tension, atmosphere, and emotional weight — from political negotiations and stealth missions to dramatic confrontations and cinematic combat. I regularly integrate character backstories and personal goals into the ongoing narrative so each player feels invested in the world. I use game mechanics as a framework to support fairness, creativity, and consistency. Rules are important, but they exist to serve the story and the table, not slow the game down. I aim to keep sessions moving smoothly while still respecting the system being played. Each game I run has its own tone and identity, and I enjoy tailoring campaigns to fit the group’s interests — whether that means heroic fantasy, dark intrigue, mystery, or high-adventure. Above all, I prioritize player comfort, agency, and enjoyment, ensuring every session is engaging, respectful, and memorable.

I once ran a session...

where the big showdown was a fully in-character game of Three-Dragon Ante against the villain, we played the real card game at the table, and I absolutely cheated on the villain’s behalf. The players made checks to catch it, and watched them work together to win a pull from the Deck of Many Things.

My games focus on...

having fun, telling stories, and rolling dice at the perfect moment.

Rules are...

there to support fairness, creativity, and the story we’re telling.

Empyrean GM's ideal table

My table is collaborative, story-driven, and welcoming. I run games for players who enjoy engaging with the narrative, making meaningful choices, and working together to tell a great story. You don’t need to be a rules expert — just respectful, communicative, and ready to play. The vibe is focused but relaxed. We balance humor and camaraderie with tension, drama, and cinematic moments when the story calls for it. Sessions move at a steady pace, with a mix of roleplay, exploration, and combat. This table is a good fit for players who value cooperation, character growth, and immersion. I prioritize player comfort, clear expectations, and safety tools so everyone feels heard and supported. If you’re looking for a well-run game with strong storytelling and a collaborative atmosphere, you’ll fit right in.
