About Cas | WikipeDM

My friends call me Cas! I am the WikipeDM. I started my first campaign on my 15th birthday in 2004. Over 21 years later and I am still running games, most of which are set in my homebrew world of Din, a world I inherited from my dad. I have run 3e, 3.5, Pathfinder 4e, and 2014 5e and 2024 5e (I prefer a healthy mix of 2014 and 2024 rules). My favorite games and stories, from which I draw inspiration for the games I run, are Dragon Age, Lord of the Rings, Mass Effect, and all things Star Wars .

How Cas | WikipeDM runs games

My long-form campaigns are light-hearted, team-oriented, and prioritize storytelling. I prefer games that include more social encounters and puzzles (about 2/3 of gameplay) than combat (the remaining 1/3). My goal as a loremaster and storyteller is to place emphasis on the player characters, their stories, and allow players the opportunity to explore themselves and how they connect to each other and the game world. My one-shots vary. I run meat-grinder dungeons for players who enjoy the challenge. I include as much tactical combat as possible for those looking for a combat simulator. I sometimes place heavy emphasis on puzzles and traps to ratchet up tension. I write and run my own one-shots so I am flexible in how the story unfolds. Even with one-shots, my goal is always to prioritize the player characters, their choices, and how they navigate the story.

I deal with rules issues by...

Making a decisive ruling with caveat that the ruling can be reviewed together post-session if need be.

I prep by

Worldbuilding. Ensuring the world is as fleshed out as it can be so that the players have the ability to direct the story where they'd like to go is a priority for me.

Rules are...

Solid guidelines when it comes to TTRPGs. They should be followed more often than not, but can be bent for the sake of storytelling.

Cas | WikipeDM's ideal table

My table is inclusive, light-hearted, and a safe space for all. If you enjoy storytelling, roleplaying, and the ability to explore your characters without judgment, you will find a home at my table.

I love it when a player

Plays a character that means a lot to them, prioritizing choices in game that allow that character to thrive in their own way.

I think min/maxing...

Has a time and a place, such as meat grinder one shots and gritty realism campaigns. I find that those can be fun every so often, but min/maxing doesn't have a place at long-form campaign tables that I run.

My perfect party mix is

To me, there is no "perfect mix" other than to say that the perfect mix is what everyone feels comfortable playing. I do not place any importance or emphasis on roles or composition. Oops all wizards? Great. No healer? Sure. What matters is that everyone is happy with what they're playing.
