About Matt
Hi there! I'm Matt, and Ive been a tabletop fan and ForeverDM for over 10 years. I've played a wide variety of games, but mainly have experience with D&D 3.5 and 5th, Vampire The Masquerade 20th, and Daggerheart. Im always open to try something new, and I love to create interesting games and stories with others. Im influenced by a lot of Manga and Videogames and I love having a cinematic feel to my games. I believe in strong collaboration between everyone at the table, with my aim being that everyone feels comfortable, safe, and has a great time.

I got started GMing...
I started GMing my first Oneshot in 2013, after playing DnD 3.5 for a few years before that. I remember clearly one of my players charging in to an encounter and killing the boss in 1 hit. I absolutely fell in love with the GM role and have been running games ever since.

When I'm not running games I'm...
I love to play Videogames, mainly third-person action games or JRPGS like Devil May Cry, Dark Souls, Persona, and SMT. I also enjoy art and read a lot of Manga, my favourites being JoJo, Chainsaw Man, and HxH.
How Matt runs games
I have ran a number of different genres of games. Often times my games feature a serious main story with a bizarre and mad-cap comedic side adventures and characters. I absolutely love roleplay between PC's and NPC's as I have an acting background, and I often keep it very loose and fun. I try to run combat like its a cinematic action scene and like to reward player creativity when they encounter things. I think combat is done best when its a puzzle or a story being told, and I love using it to let a player characters personality shine. I work really well with players who have strong ideas about how they want their characters story to progress and develop, as I enjoy a collaborative space where everyone builds things together. I'm also not afraid to twist and bend the rules to suit both players and myself. My games come with lots of unexpected surprises for everyone, and I love to do a little bit of genre blending.

I deal with rules issues by...
Coming to a consensus at the table. Its only fair that players stay informed about the game and get a say in how to interpret rules too.
I prep by
Listening to a soundscape, and then playing the final mission of DMC5 to get me excited and in the zone.
Rules are...
Meant to support the narrative and creative storytelling. I generally never let a rule get in the way of an interesting idea.
Matt's ideal table
I am a very versatile GM and welcome anyone, but there are definitely players I naturally click with easier. A lot of my influences and passions come from the early 2000's punk culture, think Nu-Metal, videogames like DMC3, and shounen. Naturally people who enjoy that borderline between edgy and goofy will feel right at home, and a lot of Heavy RP is something I encourage. I like to keep things lighthearted but focused on the action.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you're into games like DMC, Bayonetta, and other over the top classics, youll love my table.
I love it when a player
Thinks about who their character really is. What are their desires, fears, shortcomings, and strengths. A compelling character makes for a compelling game.
I think min/maxing...
Is kinda boring. While I understand the appeal and of having a power fantasy character I absolutely prefer characters that are incredibly flawed and have their own shortcomings. Its always better to have a character really good at one or two things, and have a fatal flaw.
