About Jimmy (Tri-Nerd)
Hello! After playing as a character in many 1-shots and campaigns with my friends, I am now taking on the next challenge of DND: becoming a DM! Im a new-ish DM who likes hosting new players and introducing players to DND in low-stress, high fun, community focused games.

I got started GMing...
For my friends! I had a group of friends who wanted to try DND, but had no one to host. I was new to DMing, but wanted to provide a space for them to get started. So, here I am today!
My favorite books are
Mostly fantasy and sci-fi! I love audiobooks for the convenience they bring when doing chores or while Im training. But nothing beats a morning with a good cup of coffee on the porch reading a book!
When I'm not running games I'm...
Training! I am an amateur triathlete, training for my first full distance Ironman in October.
How Jimmy (Tri-Nerd) runs games
I try to make my games enjoyable for all players at the table, and incorporating all players, ideas, and goals into the story told at the table. Especially hoping to work with newer players and introducing folks to DND, my goal is to explain rules, characters, spells, abilities, and skills with the most information possible to encourage players to explore their own characters and actions. I am always happy to employ the Rule of Cool when it comes to the actions being taken at the table, as long as it is within reason for what's going on in the story.

I prep by
I usually do the following: - Review the module or story that my players are doing - Prepare Foundry and DND Beyond Encounters - Make sure that player character sheets have been updated - Get snacks!
Rules are...
Great for structure, introducing new players to the game, and getting things started. However, I am of the opinion that, as games are collaborative storytelling, you have to be willing to work with the rules and the story at the table to make things fun!
When it comes to voices
I am NOT fantastic at them! I generally try to add inflection or simple sound effects. This is an area I am trying to grow in, but is something I need to work on for sure!
Jimmy (Tri-Nerd)'s ideal table
My ideal table is: - Collaborative - Communicative - Respectful of players and their characters - Willing to ask questions - Willing to make mistakes - Wants to try out of the box paths and actions - Loves a good laugh

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Casting Find Familiar to make a voluptuous rat that distracts a Demon and lures it from its lair so that you and your party members can have a surprise round...
I think metagaming...
Can have its place at the table! I fully support my players discussing out of character what they are experiencing, the situation at hand, etc. This is an open book that they get to take part in. As long as they're willing to work with me, Im happy to work with them!
