About Jeremy
I am a canadian national living in India, and host regular in-person sessions frequently. As a seasoned game master and ttrpg hobbyist of 20+ years, I have a penchant for system design, and a soft spot for roleplaying and rules-light systems. I am currently working on a cinematic pulp-horror RPG system with a small publisher, as well as a personal project loosely based on the coin-flipping oracle of the I-Ching (Divination tool) set in a post apocalypse setting. I have also written and published material on DrivethruRPG, including a system I designed to facilitate player character creation called Pyre. I got my start in AD&D at about age 14, and my first game took place every week over 4 years. The ups and downs, the rivalries, and the incredible adventures we shared left us wanting more, and I very quickly began writing one shots and mini campaigns to play alongside the larger game. Honestly, though, I have been creating games in some form or other since I could talk - I have memories in childhood of drawing elaborate labyrinths and creating platformer 'levels' with fridge magnets for my younger brother to navigate. Whether spaceships or dragons (or both?), I'm a nerd and proud of it!

I became a GM because
When I started off as a player I just wanted more! That and I love designing neat game systems, scenarios, and characters!
My favorite books are
Art of War, The Zombie Survival Handbook, and whatever I'm reading right now!
When I'm not running games I'm...
Writing games, playing games, and drinking copious amounts of coffee ☕️
How Jeremy runs games
At my table players are welcome to explore with their character in an open world, navigating the environment and sometimes facing the consequences! Beginner friendly (that's how the hobby stays alive), and open to players from all walks of life. Get ready to laugh - games are first and foremost for having fun!! I enjoy hosting sandbox-style games where players are free to interact and explore while the cogs are turning behind the scenes. Recently I had a session planned out with a dungeon crawl in mind - I had mapped out 3 layers of an ancient crypt. The Players decided that they wanted to case and rob an antique store in a nearby town instead. This lead to a tense and dramatic session that culminated in a chase through the back alleys of the city where the Player Characters just barely escaped with the loot. At the close of the session I was asked how I knew that they would rob the antique store and how I prepared for it. The Players were surprised that it was entirely improv on my part! I believe in being thoroughly prepared for the session but also being ready to go off the rails at any given moment.

I deal with rules issues by...
The rules of cool, baby. 🤓
I once ran a session...
While cooking a thanksgiving dinner for my dozen players.
I prep by
Creating a map, throwing in a few notable characters for spice, then mixing in some traps, a handful of magic items and a pinch of comedy... its soupy but fun.

I love it when a player
Asks sensory questions about the game world. I do my best to express these things in descriptions, but it really shows a player is invested in the game if they want to know the texture of something, the smell of something, the way something sounds!
I think min/maxing...
Is fine if everyone in the group is doing it!!
My perfect party mix is
Five players in general. That way party politics aren't split 50/50 and no one has to wait too long for their turn. Not to mention someone should bring healing. Always have healing.
